Computer Operator Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced, efficient computer operator to join our growing team. In this position, you will monitor the capabilities of all systems within our organization to ensure smooth hardware operation. You will work closely with the team to track malfunctions and perform back-ups, run virus scans, and ensure the security of company information and operating systems.

Computer Operator Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and support all computer hardware and software systems
  • Oversee maintenance to equipment and keep systems up-to-date with operating systems upgrades
  • Ensure controls are set
  • Perform troubleshooting for various system errors
  • Evaluate connectivity issues, network equipment, and servers
  • Perform data backups and other maintenance requirements to ensure optimal performance
  • Run system-wide antivirus protections
  • Ensure data and employee information is not at risk
  • Set up equipment and operation for new users and employees
  • Install, test, and monitor servers, firewalls, and new software as needed
  • Support team members with resolving computer issues
  • Monitor web performance, network availability, and security
  • Keep track in log of performance and malfunctions
  • Maintain peripheral devices to ensure all systems are functioning properly
  • Assist IT team and computer programmers as needed to install and test new upgrades and products

Computer Operator Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree in computer technology, computer science, information systems, or related field preferred but not required
  • Experience working with network and server management support
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable in a diverse and fast-paced environment
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Up-to-date knowledge of new systems, information, software, hardware, and upgrades
  • Able to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 25 pounds of computer equipment
