What is trapping?

A trapping job involves capturing animals for various purposes, such as wildlife management, pest control, or conservation efforts. Trappers use specialized tools like cages, snares, or foothold traps to safely and humanely capture animals. They often work in outdoor environments, following local regulations and ethical guidelines. Some trappers focus on fur harvesting, while others assist in relocating nuisance wildlife. Proper training and knowledge of animal behavior are essential for success in this field.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in trapping, and why are they important?

To thrive in Trapping, you need practical field experience in wildlife management, a solid understanding of animal behavior, and knowledge of laws and regulations governing trapping. Familiarity with humane trapping equipment, GPS devices, and state licensing or certification is often required. Strong observation skills, patience, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in varying outdoor conditions are important soft skills. Mastering these skills ensures ethical and effective management of wildlife populations, compliance with legal standards, and safe, successful job performance.

What are typical work conditions and physical demands for trapping?

Trappers often work outdoors in remote or rugged environments, sometimes during early mornings, nights, and varying weather conditions, which requires physical endurance and adaptability. The role can involve hiking long distances, setting and checking traps, and safely handling wildlife, so physical strength and dexterity are valuable assets. Team structure may vary, but many trappers work independently or with small teams, occasionally collaborating with conservation officers or landowners. Job seekers should be comfortable with outdoor work, animal handling, and adhering to safety protocols to thrive in this role.

Your craft. Our presses. Let’s build brands together.

At Oliver Inc., we pair deep heritage with modern sustainability and technology to deliver speed, consistency, and agility in printing and packaging. Join us on 2nd Shift and take ownership of an 8‑color Komori sheet‑fed press with H‑UV double coating—where your precision turns customer vision into reality.

When anything is uncertain, you speak up fast, protect throughput, and keep the team moving. The press area stays clean, safe, and compliant with SOPs, and you’re always ready to help on whatever comes next.

Core responsibilities
  • Operate the 8‑Color Double Coater H‑UV Komori sheet‑fed press with accuracy and consistency.
  • Manage and maintain E.C./U.V. curing systems; apply aqueous or UV coatings as specified.
  • Use modern Color Control Systems; interpret trapping, gray balance, and dot gain metrics to maintain SID.
  • Run jobs to customer specs and job ticket requirements.
  • Request clarification when responsibilities or instructions are unclear.
  • Ensure each project achieves top quality benchmarks.
  • Maintain a safe, clean workspace; uphold department housekeeping standards.
  • Comply with company and department SOPs/policies; take on additional tasks as assigned.
What you bring
  • At least five years of experience in a printing/pressroom setting.
  • Sharp quality control capabilities; exceptional attention to detail and organization.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively; strong interpersonal skills.
  • Comfort operating in a fast‑paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Physical capability: lift ~40 lbs regularly; stand for extended periods; frequent walking, kneeling, and reaching; constant use of hands/arms; lift at least 50 lbs during roller maintenance.
  • Proficiency: Packaging Experience.
Grow with Oliver
  • Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.
  • Monthly Employee Appreciation Days.
  • A supportive culture centered on growth, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • State‑of‑the‑art equipment in a clean, safe environment.
