Lab Technician
Summary: The Lab Technician will perform routine laboratory analysis that their degree of training will permit. They will be available for any special projects in the laboratory as required. They will be required in keeping their work space clean and orderly.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • 24 hour on call service during duty week
  • Drive half-ton truck to job site and field district
  • Maintain a Class "C'" drivers license
  • Load and unload cylinders in pelican cases that weigh up to approximately 70 lbs
  • Load and unload lab equipment that weigh up to 70 lbs
  • Complete job sheets, pre trip, post trip vehicle inspections, JSA forms
  • Explain job procedures and sampling methods to customer
  • Be familiar with lab and field procedures
  • Conduct lab analysis at benchtop during an 8 hour day
  • Knowledgeable of lab instruments applications, maintenance, repair and calibrations
  • Process reports utilizing different software
  • Work in all types of weather conditions (i.e., extreme heat, cold and high humidity environment) for extended periods of time
  • Work in toxic environment (Hydrogen Sulfide Gas) while wearing a self-contained full face sealed breathing apparatus weighing approximately 30 lbs
  • Capable of climbing stairs on oil storage tanks while wearing a self contained full face sealed breathing apparatus weighing approximately 30 lbs
  • Capable of working in district labs
  • Must have the ability to lodge overnight
  • Attend required safety training courses
