Job description


Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Medical Lab Technologist, you will perform vital clinical laboratory procedures to detect, identify, measure, and report data crucial for disease diagnosis and treatment.
Every day, you will expertly conduct waived and moderate procedures using technical skills, instrumentation, and information systems, providing essential clinical laboratory support while ensuring the quality and accuracy of all tests under leadership direction.
To be successful in this role, you will possess comprehensive knowledge of laboratory principles across various disciplines (microbiology, hematology, chemistry, etc.), understand sample processing and result interpretation, prioritize chemical and biological safety, and be adept at operating and maintaining lab equipment.

  • Performs laboratory tests on all scheduled benches as assigned according to current protocols, procedures, and quality assurance requirements. Maintains a high level of precision and accuracy for all testing. Reports problems that may adversely affect test performance or results. Reports critical values in a timely manner to appropriate personnel.
  • Considerable knowledge of a clinical laboratory as it applies to collecting and processing specimens. Processes lab specimens and prepares lab samples for shipment as needed.
  • Performs maintenance on equipment in a timely manner. Performs preventative maintenance protocols. Investigates and corrects equipment malfunctions. Documents appropriately.
  • Performs quality control procedures, including instrument function checks and calibrations as needed. Monitors quality control results to assure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained. Participates in laboratory quality assurance and quality assurance activities.
  • Participates in continuing education.
  • Follows all laboratory procedures including safety guidelines, the use of personal protective equipment and awareness of blood-borne pathogens. Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
