The M365 Messaging Engineer is responsible for the operational management and stability of the company's messaging environment, with a focus on Exchange Online and hybrid dependencies. This role ensures reliable mail flow, secure messaging integrations, and effective mailbox lifecycle management while supporting broader Microsoft 365 operations. The position is designed to absorb ongoing operational workload and allow senior engineers to focus on strategic and AI-driven initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Administer and support Exchange Online, including mail flow, transport rules, and mailbox provisioning
• Manage hybrid Exchange dependencies and support ongoing coexistence requirements
• Maintain and troubleshoot email security integrations (e.g., transport rules, third-party controls)
• Oversee mailbox lifecycle management, including provisioning, retention, and decommissioning
• Resolve production issues related to messaging services and ensure SLA adherence
• Support general M365 operations, including cross-platform dependencies with Teams, SharePoint, and identity systems
• Document system configurations, runbooks, and standard operating procedures
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience with Exchange Online and Microsoft 365 messaging services
• Experience in hybrid Exchange environments
• Strong understanding of mail flow, DNS, and email security controls
• PowerShell or automation experience preferred
