Description

We are currently seeking a dependable team member with availability for weekend and mid-day coverage to support our membership engagement department.

Primary Summary:

Under the supervision of the Membership Director and in collaboration with YMCA staff, the Member Services Associate plays a key role in creating a positive first impression for all members, guests, and visitors. This position supports daily operations of the Welcome Center and Front Desk by delivering outstanding customer service, providing information, assisting with memberships and program registrations, and helping connect the community to all the YMCA has to offer.

Essential Functions:

  • Greet every member and guest with enthusiasm, professionalism, and a welcoming attitude.
  • Build positive relationships with members, guests, and staff by responding to needs and concerns with exceptional customer service.
  • Assist with memberships, program registrations, and account transactions while following YMCA policies and procedures.
  • Use Daxko software to process transactions including memberships, youth programs, and other program registrations.
  • Provide engaging facility tours to prospective members while identifying their needs and interests.
  • Promote YMCA programs, services, and community opportunities.
  • Assist with financial assistance applications and related transactions while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Work closely with branch leadership to ensure front desk operations run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Answer phones professionally, provide accurate information, and direct calls appropriately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front desk area.
  • Attend staff meetings, trainings, and development opportunities.
  • Work a variety of weekday, evening, and weekend shifts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Child Safety Responsibilities:

Employees and volunteers who do not directly supervise children and teens will:

  • Adhere to YMCA policies regarding boundaries with children and teens.
  • Complete required abuse risk management training annually.
  • Report suspicious or inappropriate behavior and policy violations.
  • Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.
  • Support secure check-in and check-out procedures, ensuring only authorized adults access the facility.
  • Follow all job-specific child protection responsibilities.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm in a busy environment.
  • Flexible availability including weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to change and handle responsibilities involving member safety and service.
  • Ability to hear, speak, and see with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Successful completion of background screening.

Required Certifications (provided through approved organizations):

  • First Aid / CPR / AED certification (valid for 2 years unless otherwise noted)
  • Required Redwoods online training modules completed annually

Accepted certification providers include YMCA, American Red Cross, American Heart Association, and American Health and Safety Institute (ASHI).

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to walk, stand, kneel, stoop, and perform repetitive hand movements.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
