Position Overview
Queens Community House is seeking a reliable and professional Part-Time Evening Front Desk Receptionist to support operations at the Forest Hills Community Center during evening hours.
This position serves as the primary administrative and front-desk support in the evening, ensuring smooth program operations, welcoming visitors, and assisting staff, participants, and community members.
The Evening Front Desk Receptionist plays a key role in maintaining a safe, organized, and welcoming environment while providing administrative, logistical, and customer service support to programs and staff operating in the facility.
Key Responsibilities
Front Desk & Customer Service
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for visitors, participants, and staff during evening hours
  • Greet and assist community members, program participants, and guests in a professional and welcoming manner
  • Answer and direct phone calls, inquiries, and emails
  • Provide general information about programs, services, and schedules
Administrative Support
  • Support program staff with administrative tasks such as copying, printing, scanning, and filing
  • Assist with participant sign-in processes and documentation when needed
  • Maintain organized records and ensure forms are completed accurately
  • Support administrative staff with data entry and general office tasks
Facility & Operations Support
  • Monitor evening use of classrooms and shared spaces to ensure scheduled programs run smoothly
  • Assist with room set-ups and breakdowns for meetings, classes, and community events when needed
  • Ensure shared spaces remain organized and presentable
  • Report any facility issues or maintenance concerns to the Operations or Administrative team
Safety & Security
  • Monitor building access during evening hours and ensure proper visitor protocols are followed
  • Maintain awareness of who is in the building and support safe facility operations
  • Respond appropriately to minor issues and escalate concerns to supervisors as needed
Coordination & Communication
  • Maintain clear communication with program staff, administrative staff, and site leadership
  • Support coordination of evening activities and help ensure programs stay on schedule
  • Document important incidents, updates, or facility concerns during the shift
Qualifications
  • High school diploma required
  • Previous administrative, receptionist, or front desk experience preferred
  • Professional and welcoming demeanor
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Familiarity with office equipment such as printers, scanners, and fax machines
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Additional training or certification in administrative support or office management is a plus
