SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITES:

Coordinate and support the Operations and Planning functions, including Assembly and Machine Shop activities, by developing accurate production schedules and operational plans. Provide internal customer service by aligning planning tools, maintaining master production schedules, and reviewing all factors that impact production flow. Ensure efficient planning processes that support achievement of business metrics and operational goals. This is a full-time, on-site position at the HURST Jaws of Life business unit located in Shelby, NC.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate with Assembly and Machine Shop teams to ensure schedules, priorities, and workflow sequences support operational requirements.
  • Develop, review, and maintain MRPgenerated schedules; adjust priorities and sequencing as needed to support production goals.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, subject matter experts, and crossfunctional stakeholders to develop and update operational planning documents.
  • Supervise, lead, and mentor planning and purchasing team with assistance from management.
  • Assign workload, support daytoday issue resolution, and provide coaching.
  • Support performance reviews and employee development.
  • Serve as the primary contact for corporate planning metrics, including OnTime Delivery, forecasted deliveries, and plant performance indicators. Communicate concerns related to shortages, workflow issues, or process changes.
  • Provide planning-related recommendations and data-driven insights to leadership on issues influencing schedules, materials, and operational flow.
  • Administer ERP-system forecasts; identify trends in Forecast Consumption periods and communicate gaps or required actions to Sales and Customer Service.
  • Support the Operations portion of physical inventory planning and execution.
  • Maintain the 80/20 structure within the ERP/MRP systems and provide planning input for Make/Buy decisions.
  • Oversee planning aspects of Finished Goods and Component-level Kanban systems with focus on minimizing inventory, reducing transactions, and improving level-loading.
  • Own and maintain the Sales & Operations pattern build planning process.
  • Maintain backlog information and provide accurate updates regarding ship dates and component shortages for both internal and purchased materials.
  • Apply Six Sigma and Lean tools to reduce process variation, eliminate non-value-added activities, and support continuous improvement.
  • Maintain workday calendars and Forecast Consumption calendars within the ERP system.
  • Prepare internal planning documents, SOPs, and other operational planning outputs.
  • Utilize standard project-management principles for planning schedules, estimating resources, defining milestones, and reporting progress.
  • Support development of planning-related operational goals or objectives.
  • Assist in determining planning-related resource needs.
  • Recommend improvements to planning processes or policies.
  • Support environmental sustainability initiatives through planning activities.
  • Assist with planning related to facility layouts or workflow design.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Production Control, Business Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Planner in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting operational teams or crossfunctional projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and fundamental PC database knowledge.
  • Ability to read and understand production drawings and material requirements.
  • Strong understanding of MRP logic and inventory management strategies.
  • APICS CPIM preferred.
  • Experience with Oracle JD Edwards preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively and support multiple planning projects simultaneously.
  • ISO 9001 experience preferred.
  • Background in LEAN and continuous improvement preferred.
