Position Summary

Red Coats, Inc. is seeking a Workday Report Writer to design, develop, and maintain custom Workday reports and operational dashboards that provide meaningful insights for business leaders. The ideal candidate will have strong experience creating Advanced, Matrix, Composite, and custom reports, developing Calculated Fields, and building Discovery Boards to support HR, Payroll, Finance, and Operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop Custom Reports: Create and maintain Advanced, Matrix, Composite, and custom Workday reports using Calculated Fields and Business Objects to meet business requirements.
  • Create Operational Dashboards: Design and maintain Workday Discovery Boards and dashboards that provide actionable metrics and KPIs for operations and business leadership.
  • Partner with Stakeholders: Work closely with HR, Payroll, Finance, and Operations to translate business requirements into meaningful reports and dashboards.
  • Ensure Data Integrity: Validate report accuracy, troubleshoot reporting issues, and ensure compliance with Workday security (domains, business process security, and role-based access).
  • Support Workday Releases: Review, test, and update reports and dashboards during Workday bi-annual releases to ensure continued functionality.
  • Provide Documentation & Training: Document report logic and provide guidance to end users as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 2–3+ years of hands-on experience building and maintaining custom Workday reports.
  • Strong expertise with Workday Report Writer, Calculated Fields, Business Objects, and Discovery Boards.
  • Experience developing reports across Workday HCM and Financial Management modules.
  • Knowledge of Workday security as it relates to reporting
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing executive dashboards and operational KPI reporting.
  • Experience supporting enterprise Workday reporting in a production environment.
  • Familiarity with Workday Adaptive Planning to support future reporting and planning initiatives.
  • Workday reporting certification (Workday Pro Reporting, HCM Reporting or Financials Reporting) is preferred. Equivalent hands-on experience developing Workday reports will also be considered.
