As of Jul 11, 2026, the average hourly pay for wire assembly in the United States is $19.47, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $16.83 and $21.15 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is the highest paid manufacturing job?

In manufacturing, roles such as industrial engineers, manufacturing managers, and CNC programmers tend to be among the highest paid. These positions often require specialized skills, certifications, and experience, and can offer higher salaries compared to entry-level assembly roles like wire assembly.

What are wire assembly jobs?

Wire assembly jobs involve the process of assembling electrical wires and cables into harnesses or panels, following specific technical diagrams or blueprints. Workers in this role are responsible for cutting, stripping, crimping, and connecting wires, as well as inspecting assemblies for quality and testing electrical continuity. These jobs are commonly found in manufacturing industries such as automotive, aerospace, electronics, and telecommunications. Attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to read schematics are important skills for this position.

Can I get paid to assemble products at home?

Wire assembly jobs can sometimes be performed remotely or at home, especially for small-scale or freelance work, but most traditional positions require working in a designated facility with specific tools and safety standards. Some companies offer remote assembly tasks that involve detailed instructions and minimal equipment, but these are less common. It is important to verify the legitimacy of such opportunities and ensure compliance with safety and quality requirements.

What are some typical challenges faced in a wire assembly role, and how can they be effectively managed?

In a wire assembly position, common challenges include handling intricate wiring diagrams, maintaining high attention to detail to avoid errors, and staying productive while working with repetitive tasks. Managing these challenges often involves developing strong organizational skills, becoming familiar with standard wiring color codes and schematics, and utilizing quality control checklists. Collaborating closely with team members and supervisors also helps ensure that assemblies meet safety and quality standards, while ongoing training can help workers stay current with industry best practices.

What does a wire assembler do?

A wire assembler constructs electrical wiring and cable assemblies by cutting, stripping, crimping, and connecting wires according to technical specifications. They often use hand tools and may work with diagrams or schematics in a manufacturing or production environment. Attention to detail and knowledge of electrical safety are important for this role.

What is the difference between Wire Assembly vs Soldering Technician?

AspectWire AssemblySoldering Technician
CredentialsBasic electrical knowledge, sometimes certifications in wiringCertifications in soldering techniques, electronics assembly
Work EnvironmentManufacturing floors, assembly linesElectronics labs, manufacturing facilities
Industry UsageElectronics, aerospace, automotiveElectronics, telecommunications, repair shops
Job FocusAssembling wires and cablesSoldering components onto circuit boards

Wire Assembly involves connecting wires and cables in various products, focusing on wiring and harnesses. Soldering Technicians specialize in soldering electronic components onto circuit boards. While both roles require electrical knowledge and work in manufacturing environments, Wire Assembly emphasizes wiring skills, whereas Soldering Technicians focus on precise soldering techniques for electronics assembly.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Wire Assembly Technician, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Wire Assembly Technician, you need a solid understanding of electrical wiring, blueprint reading, and manual dexterity, often supported by a high school diploma or vocational training. Familiarity with hand tools, wire crimpers, soldering equipment, and sometimes IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification is typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving, and strong teamwork are valuable soft skills in this role. These skills and qualifications are crucial to ensure safe, precise, and efficient assembly of wiring systems that meet quality standards in manufacturing or electrical settings.

What jobs pay 4000 a week without a degree?

Wire assembly jobs typically do not pay $4,000 a week without specialized skills or experience. High-paying roles that can reach this level often involve sales, real estate, or entrepreneurship, which may require strong communication skills, certifications, or business acumen rather than formal degrees. Most manufacturing or assembly positions pay hourly wages that are below this threshold unless combined with overtime or bonuses.
