Tpf Assemblers are usually responsible for designing, coding, and maintaining core transaction processing systems, most commonly in sectors like airlines, banking, and hospitality where high-speed data handling is essential. On a typical day, you might work on creating or modifying critical modules that handle ticket reservations, financial transactions, or customer data, ensuring these systems run efficiently and securely. Collaboration with systems analysts, testers, and other programmers is frequent to ensure that changes integrate smoothly with existing processes and meet performance objectives. Many positions also involve troubleshooting and performance tuning, providing a dynamic environment with multiple interesting technical challenges.
To thrive as a Tpf Assembler, you need strong skills in low-level programming, particularly in IBM's TPF (Transaction Processing Facility) Assembler language, with experience in mainframe environments. Familiarity with tools such as IBM mainframes, TPF development environments, and experience with source control systems like Git is highly valued, and certifications in mainframe technologies can be a plus. Excellent analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication with technical teams help differentiate top performers in this position. These skills ensure the reliable development, debugging, and maintenance of complex, high-volume transaction processing systems critical to industries like airlines and banking.
A TPF Assembler job involves working with the Transaction Processing Facility (TPF) operating system, primarily used in high-volume industries like airlines, banking, and hospitality. TPF Assembler programmers write, maintain, and optimize low-level assembly code to ensure efficient transaction processing. Responsibilities include debugging, performance tuning, and enhancing system reliability. Strong knowledge of assembler language and TPF architecture is essential for success in this role.

As a TPF developer you are responsible for the development, maintenance and support of software applications that run on the TPF. They work with a variety of programming languages, software tools and platforms to create high-performance, mission-critical applications. You will be responsible for the analysis, design, coding, testing, and documentation of new or modified logic/software.
