Are you passionate about the wine industry and enjoy providing top-tier customer service? 

We are seeking a new Part-Time Wine Guide to join the team. In this role, you will ensure each guest is greeted and seated for their desired tasting experience. You will pour and explain our wine and unique history in the region, serve and support in the dining room, and work closely with our chef team to create an amazing experience for all visitors. 

This is a part-time position based at the JUSTIN Estate (11680 Chimney Rock Road, Paso Robles, CA 93446). The normal work shift is Friday - Sunday, 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM. We are seeking an individual who is willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Job Description
  • Create and execute engaging, educational, and memorable guest experiences
  • Support all daily activities related to Tasting Room operations, including general stocking and cleaning, tours, weekend lounge execution, outreach, and cooperation with all departments
  • Assist in achieving financial goals, including:
    • Tasting Room and Wine Society Lounge wine sales
    • Tasting Room merchandise and food sales
    • Tour program signups
    • Wine Society signup goals
  • Give tours as needed
  • Perform monitoring and stocking duties as assigned
  • Be timely and punctual with regard to scheduling requirements and beprepared to assist other departments as needed
  • Ensure the tasting room is tidy at all times (e.g., refolding t-shirts as necessary)
  • Assist in developing a list of 50,000 non–Wine Society members for marketing by contributing innovative ideas to gather email addresses
  • Maintain clean and tidy work areas, including:
    • Tasting Room: All bar areas must be clear of unnecessary POS materials, flyers, etc.
    • Tasting Room Office: The shared desk area must be clear and available for employees to use as needed
    • Garage: Keep clean and free of unnecessary items; ensure all back stock of shopping bags, merchandise, POS materials, etc. is organized and easy for staff to find
    • Warehouse: Organize wine pallets regularly. Coordinate with a forklift-certified employee and the inventory controller to ensure inventory is accessible, neat, and orderly
  • Resolve guest concerns and complaints using good judgment and tact; escalate issues to management when necessary
  • Stay informed on all new JUSTIN releases, including library wines, viticulture, and winemaking techniques
  • Attend all Tasting Room Manager (TRM) weekly and monthly meetings
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a restaurant, tasting room, or wine service environment required
  • Strong preference for candidates with serving, waitstaff, table management, or wine guide experience
  • Must possess a passion for the wine industry
  • Proven ability to work successfully in a team-oriented environment
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Ability to work quickly in a high-paced, physically and mentally demanding environment
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with guests and team members at all levels
  • Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and attention to detail are essential
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in English
  • Must be able to perform basic calculations such as adding, subtracting, and dividing
  • Ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
  • Must complete the JUSTIN Vineyards & Winery education program upon hire
  • High School Diploma or GED required

Pay Range: $16.90 - $17.50 plus tips. Final compensation is dependent upon skills and experience.
