Job description

Position Summary: Sets up exams, procedures and tests for patients; handles customer service inquiries. Ensures the smooth operation by obtaining accurate and complete patient and insurance information.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1.  Deliver quality customer service by answering incoming phone calls or contacting patients by phone to determine appropriate exam/test/procedure and schedule patient appropriately.
  2. Review screening form and obtain/verify patient and insurance information to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  3. Ensure best possible customer service by properly educating the patient on the exam/test/procedure preparation and answering related questions.
  4. Update patient record, including any notes necessary for the technologist, customer, or future reference.
  5. Follows site-specific protocols and keeps protocol documentation up-to-date to ensure compliance.
  6. Obtains proper approval for schedule changes or cancellations as appropriate.
  7. Maintain total confidentiality of personal and financial data.
  8. Act in a courteous manner and maintain composure even when dealing with angry or irritated patients.
  9. Other clerical duties may include maintaining databases, faxing and scanning patient histories, answering phones, and updating patient account information.
  10. Performs other related duties as required and directed.

Qualifications:

Required:

 High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred: 

 Prior scheduling experience.

 Two years of experience, preferably in health care.
