We are seeking a motivated and collaborative SAFe Product Owner (PO) to support Agile Release Train (ART) delivery efforts within Federal Government and Department of Defense (DoD) environments. In this role, you will serve as the primary liaison between Agile teams, Product Management, and external stakeholders to ensure technical execution remains tightly aligned with mission priorities throughout the Program Increment (PI).

The ideal candidate brings a strong mastery of SAFe and Agile practices, balancing day-to-day team backlog execution with strategic Product Management support—including feature refinement, roadmap alignment, and value delivery planning. To thrive in this fast-paced government environment, you should possess excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional coordination skills.

Responsibilities

  • Own, manage, and prioritize the Team Backlog to support ART objectives and customer needs.
  • Define and refine user stories, acceptance criteria, and backlog items in collaboration with Agile Teams.
  • Actively participate in PI Planning, backlog refinement, sprint planning, system reviews, and Inspect & Adapt workshops.
  • Ensure Agile Teams clearly understand business priorities, requirements, and delivery expectations.
  • Accept completed work and validate delivery against business and functional requirements.
  • Provide mission guidance to Agile Teams to help drive delivery and maintain alignment with program priorities.
  • Support Product Management with Feature refinement, roadmap alignment, and value delivery planning.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between technical teams, Product Management, leadership, and Government customers to communicate delivery status, risks, and dependencies.
  • Help manage cross-team dependencies and risks across the Agile Release Train (ART).
  • Assist with Epic and Feature documentation, intake, and alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Utilize Jira and Confluence to manage backlog items, configuration, and documentation.
  • Support Agile reporting, dashboard management, and delivery tracking metrics (e.g., velocity, burn-down).
  • Assist with maintaining standardized Agile processes and documentation practices

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar Agile role within a SAFe or Agile environment.
  • SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM) certification required.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Must possess an active Secret security clearance or have the ability to obtain and maintain one.
  • If applicable: If you are or have been recently employed by the U.S. government, a post-employment ethics letter will be required if employment is offered

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Federal Government, DoD, or government contractor programs preferred
  • Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD concepts, and modern software development practices.
