Position Overview
Are you a dynamic, relationship-driven professional with a passion for building a stronger business community? The Director of Events is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing internal and external events and meetings, including investor gatherings, advocacy trips, networking programs, and major events. This role ensures that each event aligns with the organization's mission, provides exceptional experiences, and strengthens relationships with members, sponsors, and community stakeholders. The Director of Events manages logistics, sponsorships, vendor relationships, and volunteer coordination while working closely with leadership and staff to deliver seamless events.
Key Responsibilities
-Event Planning & Execution
• Develop and manage detailed event plans for all events, from concept through completion.
• Oversee logistics such as venue selection and scheduling, vendor coordination, catering, rentals, signage, décor, and audiovisual needs.
• Create and maintain event timelines and budgets; ensure events are executed on time and within budget.
• Attend events to provide on-site leadership, manage setup and breakdown, and resolve issues as they arise.
• Maintain post-event evaluation reports and identify opportunities for improvement.
-Volunteer & Team Coordination
• Recruit, organize, and manage volunteers to support events, ensuring adequate staffing and coverage for pre-event, event-day, and post-event tasks.
• Communicate regularly with staff and volunteers to ensure clarity on roles and expectations.
-Sponsorship & Relationship Management
• Support sponsorship development efforts by identifying opportunities and ensuring sponsor deliverables are met.
• Maintain accurate records of sponsorship commitments and benefits.
-Marketing & Communication Support
• Collaborate with the communications team to develop event promotion strategies, social media content, and email campaigns.
• Manage event registration systems and maintain accurate attendance records.
• Other duties that contribute to the overall success of the organization.
Required Skills & Competencies
• Experience: 3+ years in event planning, preferably in professional capacity.
• Education: Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with sponsors, volunteers, vendors, and community leaders.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive, professional attitude.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with event management platforms is a plus.
• Creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Physical & Schedule Requirements
• Ability to attend early morning, evening, and weekend events as required.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods during events.
