Job description

Must have flexibility to work AM, PM, overnight and weekend shifts. Assignments will include 6, 8, 10 or 12 hours shifts.
GENERAL FUNCTION:
To efficiently perform a variety of broadcast operations in a hybrid production-master control setting, including technical directing, operating graphics for live and pre-recorded programming, executing multi-source on-air transitions, ingesting live and pre-recorded programming and light nonlinear editing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Proficient using a newsroom system as it relates to Broadcast Control functionality.
  • Consistently operates character generators and program keyers to properly present graphic material adhering to C-SPAN format and look.
  • Proficient in technical directing, using pre-recorded and/or multiple live sources both manually and using automation.
  • Recording in-house and remote signals and dubbing various formats into the server.
  • Assuring quality control of inbound and outbound audio, video and closed captioning.
  • Basic understanding of Studio Control Operations, including audio mixing, digital video effects and switching simple two-camera event coverage.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills. Handles equipment with care and respect.
  • Proficient in nonlinear editing.
  • Other duties as assigned.

BACKGROUND/SKILLS:
  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline.
  • One year operational experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, crew members and editorial colleagues.
  • Familiarity with Dalet, Ross graphics and switchers systems and Adobe Premiere.
  • Consistent performance in several technical areas.
  • Understanding of C-SPAN's format in switching, IDing and editing.
  • Ability to concentrate and focus on details.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement under pressure.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules.
