What are some unique challenges and rewards of working as a weekend audiologist?

Working as a weekend audiologist often involves a fast-paced environment, as appointments may be more condensed and patients typically seek urgent or time-sensitive care. You may encounter a diverse range of cases, from routine hearing tests to troubleshooting hearing aids, which provides valuable hands-on experience. While weekend shifts can be demanding, they offer flexibility for those balancing other commitments and provide opportunities for increased pay or career advancement through demonstrated reliability.

What is the 60-60 rule in audiology?

The 60-60 rule in audiology refers to a guideline for hearing protection, suggesting that individuals should limit exposure to noise levels above 60 decibels for no more than 60 minutes at a time to prevent hearing damage. Audiologists often educate patients about safe listening practices and recommend hearing protection devices for noisy environments.
