Job description

The Milwaukee Public Museum (MPM) is looking to hire an Event Sales Manager to drive the sales efforts for events hosted at the Nature & Culture Museum of Wisconsin (NCMW). In this positionย youโ€™llย be part of the team building a new home for MPM and promoting the new and exciting space that will be the NCMW. Reporting to the Director of Events and Group Salesย and managing the Event Coordinator, the Event Sales Manager willย be responsible forย cultivatingย relationships with clients, promoting and selling the Museum eventย spaces, and ensuring that events are executed to the highest standards.ย 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prospect and grow new business by conducting market research for new leads, leading site visits, conducting outside sales calls, and attending industry networking events and local tradeshows.ย 
  • Supervise and provide guidance to the Event Coordinator.ย 
  • Ensure repeat business by following up with existingย clients, including responding to incoming leads within 24 hours.ย 
  • Guide clients through the planning process and detail eventย logistics.ย 
  • Meet or exceed monthly and fiscal year revenue goalsย while alsoย delivering weekly reports on sales activity and pacing for revenue goals.ย 

General Responsibilities:

  • Use CRM software to prepare event sales proposals, contracts, and invoices,ย record client communications, and process payments and invoices.
  • Prepare vendor leads and communicate and coordinate regularly with vendors.ย 
  • Execute events as needed, overseeing high-level client events and providing on-site supervision of events asย determinedย by the Director and the eventย calendar.ย 
  • Effectively communicateย logisticsย with the Events Team, ensuring the clientโ€™s vision is executed.ย 
  • Provide support for group sales, birthday parties, and internal events as needed.ย 
  • Assistย theย Director with the development and execution of promotional materials and events, including website updates and marketing materials.ย 
  • Ensure compliance with museum and event policies.ย 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GEDย required.ย 
  • 2-5 years working inย the events industry preferred.ย ย 
  • Proven experience in sales and customer service.ย 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.ย 
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office applications and previous experience with CRM software.ย ย 
  • The ability toย workย a flexible schedule as needed,ย including evenings, weekends, holidays, peak business periods, and events.
