F5/WAF Engineer.
Position Overview
This role is responsible for the engineering design, development, and integration of web application firewall policies using F5 and Akamai platforms. The engineer will partner closely with application teams, information security, and network teams to ensure secure and reliable delivery of critical applications in a demilitarized zone environment.
Responsibilities

  • Engineer, design, develop, and integrate F5 Application Security Manager web application firewall policies
  • Collaborate with developers and application teams to enforce F5 and Akamai web application firewall and traffic management configurations
  • Partner with information security and demilitarized zone network engineers to enforce perimeter web application firewall security controls
  • Serve as a collaborative member of an agile team of network load balancer engineers supporting critical enterprise applications
  • Provide technical and architectural guidance for web application firewall and load balancer solutions
  • Create and manage virtual servers, pools, pool members, certificates, secure socket layer profiles, wide IPs, and related configurations
  • Perform packet capture analysis and troubleshoot application layer connectivity issues across technology teams
  • Write, maintain, and troubleshoot F5 Application Security Manager policies and iRules
  • Support development teams, partners, and stakeholders requiring F5 technology services
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Experienced engineer in supporting multiple network load balancer platforms including F5 Local Traffic Manager, Application Security Manager, Global Traffic Manager, and Akamai Edge Services
  • Hands-on experience installing, upgrading, configuring, and troubleshooting F5 and Akamai platforms
  • Strong experience with application layer troubleshooting and packet analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to design and support secure web application firewall solutions in enterprise environments
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience writing and troubleshooting F5 iRules
  • Experience with automation for F5 Local Traffic Manager and Global Traffic Manager
  • Experience with scripting or infrastructure as code tools such as Bash, Python, Ansible, or Terraform
  • Experience with Azure or other cloud-based load balancer solutions
  • F5 Application Security Manager certification
