Job Summary

The Summer Warehouse Operations Assistant supports Facilities and Campus Services by keeping warehouse and storage areas clean, organized, and well stocked. This role performs routine housekeeping, inventory support, and materials handling to ensure trades workers and buyers can access supplies efficiently and safely.

Essential Functions

Dust shelves, sweep/mop floors, remove trash and recycling, and maintain tidy aisles and work areas.
Unpack deliveries, label and stock shelves, rotate inventory (first-in/first-out), maintain bin locations, and replenish point-of-use supplies.
Consolidate materials, create and maintain overflow locations, keep aisles clear, and stage pallets or carts as needed.
Assist buyers with stocking up or retrieving items for trades workers; stage orders for pickup; prepare items for will-call or delivery as directed.
Safely move boxes, totes, and equipment using carts, hand trucks, or pallet jacks (if trained); relocate items between warehouse and satellite storage areas.
Perform basic cycle counts, assist with data collection and simple data entry, update labels/signage, and help with filing.
Follow warehouse safety procedures and PPE requirements, report hazards, and support waste sorting and recycling practices.

Other Functions

Other duties as assigned to support smooth warehouse operations.

Minimum Qualifications

Reliable, punctual, and attentive to detail; able to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
Able to perform physical tasks, including lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs, standing/walking for extended periods, bending, reaching, and using step stools or small ladders.
Basic computer literacy for simple data entry and willingness to learn inventory systems.
Clear communication and customer service skills when assisting trades staff and buyers.

Working Conditions

Work is primarily performed in an indoor university environment and involves lifting and transporting materials or equipment and general physical activity, including prolonged standing, walking, or assuming low postures.

Work Schedule and Work Arrangement

Monday-Friday, 7am-3pm

Salary Information

Hourly Rate:15.00
