HEAD OF NEW ARENA SALES (PEPPERDINE UNIVERSITY)

Playfly Sports and Pepperdine Athletics are looking for, the newly created role of, Head of New Arena Sales in Malibu, CA.

This individual will be accountable for conceptualizing, developing, communicating, and executing the Go-To-Market Athletics Ticket Sales Strategy for The Mountain at Mullin Park, Pepperdine's transformational new on-campus arena, which is scheduled open in the late fall of 2026. This role will focus on relationship building, high outbound sales activities (arena tours, face to face appointments, phone calls, etc.), and selling a full menu of ticket products (premium, full seasons, partial plans, groups, and single game tickets). This role will have access to sell tickets for all ticketed sports.  We are seeking a high performing individual contributor who loves to sell, is highly accountable, is a self-starter, someone who is equal parts strategy and execution, and has a high personal standard. We are looking for a pacesetter.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • High volume and high quantity sales activity output; you are a department of one (1)
  • Prepare and manage the annual ticket sales business plan for new arena sales; ownership of all elements of the strategy and execution
  • Skilled at all aspects of reporting (pipeline, actuals, projections, etc.)
  • Organizing, sharing, and action of strategic insights regarding all things ticket sales
  • Develop and maintain a robust book of business rooted in relationships and results
  • Facilitate discussion and add value to standing meetings while sharing best practices and innovative ideas related to growing ticket sales revenue and fan experience
  • This role will work closely with, from Pepperdine, the Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Operations and the Director of Athletics; and from Playfly Sports, the Regional Vice President of Ticketing and Premium Hospitality, and the Senior Vice President & Head of Ticketing and Premium Hospitality
  • Other job-related duties as assigned

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • An unmatched passion for getting the job done, a love of the sales process, and the ability to operate with urgency
  • 7+ years of sales experience, preferably in the sports/entertainment industry and/or ticket sales
  • Strong executive presence
  • Ability to establish priorities and always meet deadlines with effective results
  • Proficient with CRM tools and expense management
  • Skilled at prioritization, awareness, and communication
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Attention to detail including excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Must be able to address and solve problems quickly and effectively
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
