ROLE OVERVIEW
We are entering our next phase of growth in the US, and are looking for a commercially-minded leader to own that growth end to end - not only new client acquisition, but the strategy, team and brand that sit behind it. This is a leadership-team role: you'll shape how Croud grows in the US, sit alongside our VP Media, EVP Client Leadership, VP Strategy and VP Analytics, and report directly into our Chief Business Officer.
The VP, Growth contributes to total US revenue growth for Croud - leading new business and contributing to strategic growth within our existing client roster. They are accountable for the budget, team and strategy that deliver it. You will define how we go to market, build and lead the growth function, and represent growth at the leadership table.
You'll be the connective tissue between sales, marketing, product, client services and executive leadership - translating company strategy into a growth plan and highly engaging and innovative pitching.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy & Executive Leadership
Own and evolve Croud's US growth strategy in partnership with the CBO and US leadership team
• Sit on the US leadership / operating board; represent growth performance, risk and opportunity in leadership level discussions.
• Translate company-wide commercial priorities and products into a growth plan and story that resonates with the market
P&L, Budget & Reporting
Own the annual revenue growth target and the growth function's budget; forecast, track and report performance to the CBO and CEO.
• Maintain rigorous pipeline reporting and hygiene (trackers and Hubspot), including win-rate, coverage ratio and source-of-lead analysis.
• Build the business case for investment in growth - headcount, tools, events - and hold the function accountable to ROI.
Team Leadership
Lead and develop the growth team: hiring, compensation planning, performance management and career development.
• Direct line management of the New Business Directors and Sales Strategists; while closely collaborating with marketing team.
• Set objectives, KPIs and coaching for a high-performing sales and marketing team.
New Business
Set the strategy and quality bar for new business pitching; ensure the new business team executes a consistently authoritative, brief-led process from qualification through to close.
• Personally target and lead the largest, highest-value or most strategically important pitches.
• Own the post-win handover process so new clients land well with internal delivery teams.
Organic Growth & Client Relationships
• Partner with Client Services and account leadership to identify and pursue cross-sell and upsell opportunities across the existing roster, where required.
• Build and hold C-suite/CMO-level relationships with both prospects and existing clients, based on trust, integrity and value.
Brand, Marketing & Thought Leadership
Support and contribute to Croud's own market positioning and brand presence in the US (not just sales collateral) including content, PR and event strategy.
• Represent Croud externally as a thought leader: LinkedIn, speaking engagements, panels, press and industry commentary on marketing effectiveness, AI and agency evolution.
• Attend and help shape Croud's presence at industry conferences (e.g. Brandweek, Shoptalk, Advertising Week).
Partnerships
Alongside the CBO manage strategic partnerships, media owners, industry bodies - that open new growth channels for Croud.
Cross-Market Collaboration
Coordinate with growth leads in Croud's other markets (UK and beyond) to share best practice and keep the go-to-market approach consistent globally.
Continual Improvement
Continuously improve pitch process, sales enablement and competitive intelligence; run pitch post-mortems and feed learnings back into the team.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE
Essential:
  • Proven experience in business development, growth leadership, and cross-functional team management within a media agency.
  • Strong understanding of the new business process, agency positioning, marketing, and industry trends.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to drive commercial success and team performance.
  • Experience establishing & overseeing a team's new business process - including prospecting, qualification, pitch strategy, and evaluation of opportunities - through deck development, presentation, execution and follow-up.
  • Experience defining high-level growth strategy and holistic ownership of pipeline development, forecasting, and budget.
  • Experience leading strategic planning initiatives including pitch narrative and deck development, resource allocation, and target-account development.
  • Experience supporting the development of a strategic go-to-market approach by delivering pitch ideas and connecting them to historical win-rate data and in-market opportunities.
  • Experience identifying key prospect insights based on a brief necessary for formulating winning strategic recommendations, and ensuring alignment to broader company growth goals.
  • Experience maintaining an in-depth knowledge of the competitive agency landscape and category trends.
  • Experience ensuring teams adopt best-in-class tools, techniques and systems (CRM/pipeline management) to deliver against growth targets and expected business outcomes.
  • Demonstrating an intimate, strategic understanding of how brands evaluate and select agency partners, while championing that understanding across internal agency teams.

Desirable:
  • Experience owning revenue targets and budgets - not just contributing to them - with demonstrable results reported to C-suite executives or a board.
  • Demonstrable in-depth experience as a strategic leader specifically in agency new business or growth.
  • Extensive experience presenting to and "selling in" to C-suite/CMO-level stakeholders, and working closely with senior stakeholders to understand their business objectives.
