Description

The Vice President, Safety (VPS) is responsible for establishing the vision and developing all of ReMA's safety programming efforts. 

This role will provide industry leadership and strategic direction for ReMA's safety programs. The VPS will coordinate with volunteer leadership and staff to develop the needed tools, initiatives, programs, and training to assist members in developing their work force and safer workplaces. 

As the voice of the association on safety, the VPS ensures that ReMA's safety message is conveyed to members and others and works with OSHA to elevate the industry's efforts. 


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

  • Provides mentoring and leadership to Safety staff and sets the tone and the pace for the department's performance. 
  • Provides staff with clear direction and communicates strategies to allow them to develop the necessary tools and programs in their various areas of expertise. 
  • Identifies, designs and implements safety programs and other training that provides members with tools to implement safe work practices and procedures in their operations.
  • Coordinates with the membership to identify and develop industry Best Safe Practices for operations in coordination with the ReMA's Safe Operations Committee.
  • Collaborates with ReMA members to identify best practice workflows; uses technology to improve communication, reduce redundancies and minimize errors.
  • Ensures alignment of Association accreditations with ANAB, manages relationships with certifying bodies and supports the recruitment and training of accreditation auditors and implementation consultants. 
  • Coordinates with the members of ReMA's Circle of Safety Excellence to incorporate the value of program enhancements and shares best practices from a safety leadership perspective.
  • Ensures consistency in delivery of service and messaging across all commodity sectors and geographic chapters.
  • Provides technical safety and health guidance to the membership across virtual platforms, training materials, presentations, seminars and other outreach activities that assist them in developing their own safety tools and programs. 
  • Interacts with OSHA and other governmental agencies as needed.

Working Conditions

Salary range for this position is between $160k - $180k. 

Travel (up to 35%) and public speaking will be required. General office work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field, minimum of seven years of Safety experience, as well as experience mentoring, managing, and leading people.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to speak in public and present in front of large audiences. 
  • Ability to meet deadlines while demonstrating professionalism under pressure.
  • Thrives in environments requiring ability to effectively prioritize and juggle concurrent projects from conception to completion.
  • Must have exceptional skills in editing documents, memos, and spreadsheets; experience using Office 365 and other office computer systems is desired.
  • Ability to handle and maintain the confidentiality of highly sensitive information.
