Job description

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert consultation within the Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) industry, with a focus on trucking and transportation safety
  • Advise on federal and state regulatory compliance and applicable industry standards
  • Evaluate and advise on transportation safety policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Conduct CMV accident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action recommendations
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for regulatory, operational, and safety-related transportation issues
  • Provide technical findings and conclusions in laymen's terms, both verbally and in writing
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, review professional publications, establish personal networks and participate in professional societies
  • Regular and predictable physical presence in the office
  • Long term goal to become testifying expert
  • Accept and integrate constructive feedback into job performance
  • Regular and predictable presence at work

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Education and training specifically in transportation safety
  • Minimum of 10 years of post-academic experience in a safety role
  • Certified Director of Fleet Safety (CFS) strongly preferred
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English both verbally and in writing
  • Public speaking experience a plus
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
