Experienced workers’ compensation claims adjusters are encouraged to apply and will be considered for a higher role if qualified. This is a hybrid role. Applicants living in Minnesota are preferred. Some experience working with lost time claims is needed.

Pay: $67,724.00 to $94,814.00 annually

What You’ll Do:

  • Investigate worker compensation claims, determine compensability, and ensure compliance with state workers’ compensation laws and internal guidelines focusing on MN jurisdictions.
  • Communicate with injured workers, employers, and partners to set expectations and support return-to-work strategies
  • Manage medical and wage loss benefits within authority limits and coordinate external services (medical, legal, rehab), set reserves, and issue timely payments of medical and wage loss benefits
  • Establish and maintain accurate claim reserves; communicate exposure and mitigation strategies
  • Develop and document claim strategies, action plans, and settlement analysis while educating the employer being an effective business partner to effectively mitigate exposure
  • Maintain accurate and timely file documentation aligned with regulatory and reporting requirements
  • Identify and resolve payment issues, collaborating with technical experts when needed
  • Contribute to team success through collaboration, mentorship, and participation in discussions and projects

What We’ll Like About You:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 6+ months of workers’ compensation lost time experience, required. 
  • Knowledge of applicable Workers’ Compensation statutes and regulatory reporting
  • Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and insurance fundamentals
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-first mindset
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong organization and time management
  • Proficiency with computer systems and data management tools

The base pay posted is just one component of SFM’s total compensation package. The salary range listed represents the full compensation range for this position. Job title and starting pay will be based on the selected candidate’s relevant knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience, and education, if applicable as well as internal equity with other employees in the same job classification. Salary range for experienced adjusters is up to $114,000.00.  #SFM

 Work Environment and Physical Demands

Regular attendance is required. Work takes place in a semi paperless environment within an office setting, either on business premises or other remote location, using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and copiers, which requires being stationary for extended periods of time.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms and work with close vision. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. Work is performed indoors with little to no exposure to extreme outdoor weather conditions.
