Brakin Out is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to elevating disadvantaged youth by offering them second chances through mentorship and empowerment programs.
Our mission is to elevate our disadvantaged youth by offering them a second chance through mentorship and reclamation.
Established in Tampa, Florida, and now expanding in Dallas, Texas, Brakin Out Inc. specializes in mentorship programs addressing lack of self-esteem, LGBT+ coming out, relationships, peer-to-peer support, family or self-hurt issues, and bullying.
Job Description
Board Member
As a board member of Brakin Out Inc., you will play a crucial role in shaping the strategic direction of our organization. Your responsibilities will include providing governance and oversight, participating in the development and implementation of strategic plans, contributing to fundraising efforts, acting as an ambassador in the community, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards, supporting the Executive Director, and participating in the evaluation of organizational performance and impact. This is a volunteer position located in Dallas, Texas.
Qualifications
  • A strong commitment to the mission and vision of Brakin Out Inc.
  • Previous experience in nonprofit governance or related field (preferred but not required).
  • Expertise in areas such as finance, fundraising, marketing, law, or program development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other board members and staff.
  • Willingness to contribute time, resources, and expertise to the organization.
  • Residency in or around the Dallas, Texas area (preferred).
  • Minimum Age: 35+
