About e360
e360 is a 30+ year privately-owned company with a focus on our people, our clients and leading technologies. Our team is comprised of leaders that focus on delivering innovative consulting solutions that leverage leading and emerging technologies.
We are a dynamic and entrepreneurial consulting company that offers ample opportunities for professional development and growth suited to each individual's personal and professional goals. We offer internal, and subsidize external, trainings, and reimburse the cost of technology certification exams and / or renewals. Our family-founded business sees work life fit as a core value that all of our practitioners practice - the value you add to your team is more important than the time that you 'clock in and out.' You will have numerous opportunities to interface with senior leadership, and benefit from mentorship internally or through introductions through external networks to support your growth.
Position overview
We are seeking a Senior Consulting Engineer to join our Modern Infrastructure team. This high-impact, client-facing role is responsible for delivering enterprise-grade infrastructure solutions across three core pillars: Cisco UCS compute, VMware vSphere. You will serve as the primary technical resource on customer engagements, translating solution architectures into successful production deployments and providing end-to-end lifecycle services from design validation through production handoff.
The ideal candidate brings 3-4 years of experience in a VAR, consulting, or professional services setting, with deep, hands-on expertise deploying and operating enterprise server, storage, and virtualization infrastructure. This role demands strong delivery capability across VMware vSphere, supported by cross-stack skills in enterprise storage, networking, and backup / data protection (e.g., Veeam). Certification in each of the VMware, Microsoft, and Cisco pillars is expected (or equivalent demonstrated delivery experience). You will be expected to operate autonomously on-site at customer locations, lead complex deployments, and deliver measurable outcomes on every engagement.
Key responsibilities
Delivery & implementation
  • Deliver end-to-end implementation and lifecycle services for enterprise server, storage, and virtualization infrastructure, from design validation through production handoff
  • Integrate compute, storage, and hypervisor platforms into cohesive production architectures; validate end-to-end functionality, performance, and resilience
  • Perform infrastructure assessments, health checks, and optimization engagements across the full stack (storage, compute, networking, virtualization)
  • Execute workload migrations across hypervisor and storage platforms as engagement scope requires
  • Deliver backup and data protection solutions (e.g., Veeam Backup & Replication) as part of broader infrastructure engagements

Cisco UCS
  • Design and build Cisco UCS compute environments, including Fabric Interconnects, chassis, blade and rack servers, and host connectivity to FC / Ethernet fabrics
  • Manage UCS infrastructure through Cisco Intersight using policy-based configuration (server profiles, firmware policies, boot policies) and infrastructure-as-code templates
  • Perform UCS firmware upgrades, hardware deployments, domain migrations (UCS Manager to Intersight Managed Mode), and lifecycle operations
  • Integrate UCS with enterprise storage and hypervisor platforms to deliver converged and hyperconverged solutions (VMware, Hyper-V / Azure Stack HCI)
  • Troubleshoot UCS hardware, firmware, and fabric-level issues across compute, storage, and network layers

VMware vSphere
  • Design and deploy VMware vSphere 7.x/8.x environments, including vCenter Server, ESXi cluster builds, distributed switching (vDS), and host profile standardization
  • Configure and tune vSphere HA, DRS, vMotion, and Storage vMotion for high availability and workload mobility
  • Perform vCenter and ESXi lifecycle operations, including major and minor version upgrades, patching, and host hardware refreshes
  • Integrate vSphere with enterprise storage (FC, iSCSI, NFS datastores, VMFS/VVOLs) and with backup and data protection platforms
  • Implement vSphere networking and security best practices, including VLAN segmentation, distributed port groups, and role-based access control

Team Member
  • Translate pre-sales solution designs into actionable implementation plans and successful customer deployments
  • Perform infrastructure upgrades, health checks, and optimization engagements across the full technology stack
  • Troubleshoot complex, multi-layer infrastructure issues across storage, compute, networking, and virtualization stacks
  • Provide customer-facing technical leadership and act as the trusted advisor throughout the engagement lifecycle

Documentation & knowledge transfer
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, as-built records, runbooks, and implementation guides
  • Conduct knowledge transfer sessions with customer IT teams upon project completion
  • Contribute to internal knowledge bases, best practices, and repeatable delivery frameworks

Requirements
Experience
  • 3+ years of experience in a VAR, consulting, managed services, or professional services engineering role
  • Demonstrated history of successful customer-facing delivery engagements in enterprise environments
  • Hands-on experience deploying and administering VMware vSphere 7.x/8.x in production environments

Certifications
VMware
  • VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV), current or one major version back

Technical skills (required)
  • Strong proficiency required - VMware vSphere:
  • Deployment, administration, cluster design, and advanced troubleshooting of vSphere 7.x/8.x
  • vCenter Server, ESXi lifecycle management, and host profiles
  • vSphere HA, DRS, vMotion, Storage vMotion, and distributed switching (vDS)
  • Familiarity with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), vSAN, and NSX concepts
  • Deployment, administration, failover clustering, and advanced troubleshooting
  • Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC) configuration and management
  • Azure Stack HCI architecture, deployment, and day-2 operations
  • Solid understanding of SAN/NAS storage architectures, including Fibre Channel, iSCSI, and NFS protocols
  • Virtualization platforms: VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V (co-primary)
  • Networking fundamentals: VLANs, Fibre Channel zoning, iSCSI configuration, network segmentation

Preferred qualifications
  • Advanced VMware certifications: VCAP-DCV, VCIX-DCV, or VCP-VCF (VMware Cloud Foundation)
  • Advanced VMware experience: vSAN, NSX, VCF, or Aria Operations
  • Additional Microsoft certifications beyond the required baseline (e.g., Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert)

Education
  • Equivalent combination of education, certifications, and hands-on experience will be considered Professional competencies

Communication & client engagement
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences
  • Proven ability to build trust and credibility with customer stakeholders, from IT engineers to C-level executives
  • Comfortable delivering technical presentations, white-boarding solution architectures, and leading project status meetings

Work style & professionalism
  • Self-directed and resourceful, capable of managing multiple concurrent engagements with minimal supervision
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation habits and a commitment to quality deliverables
  • Continuous learning mindset with a passion for staying current on emerging infrastructure technologies
  • Team-oriented collaborator who actively contributes to practice development and mentors junior engineers

Work environment & travel
  • This role requires travel to customer sites for on-premises delivery engagements (estimated up to 50%)
  • Remote work flexibility for non-customer-facing activities including documentation, lab work, and internal collaboration
  • Access to lab environments for technology validation, certification preparation, and proof-of-concept development
  • Must be able to lift and rack enterprise server and storage equipment (up to 50 lbs)
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel regionally; occasional overnight travel may be required
