How you'll contribute 

Clinical Coordinator, Wound Care who excels in this role:

  • Manages a variety of functions and is key to smooth operation of a dynamic outpatient wound care center as well as perform general office duties to assist the staff of the WCC.
  • Serves in a dual administrative/clinical role to streamline workflow in providing effective and exceptional patient care.
  • Coordinate with center leadership to maximize daily patient census.
  • Actively participates in staff meetings to support key functions with the Center.
  • Greet patients and other visitors, answers, and routes calls to appropriate staff.
  • Maintain all patient communication need including scheduling, rescheduling, and appointment reminders. 
  • Also work and schedules for provider, according to the care continuum model.
  • Obtain and verifies patient insurance information, to include pre-certifications and pre-authorizations for services and enters data in appropriate databases. 
  • Collect and enter patient charges in databases. 
  • Verify and reconcile charges as directed, prepares monthly patient survey data and appropriate documentation, then transmits providers.
  • Assemble new patient charts, maintain and file existing patient charts, and spot checks chart for data completeness and signatures.
  • Coordinate/schedule ancillary testing with other hospital departments.
  • Arrange for patient transportation, as needed.
  • Maintain office equipment and supplies as needed, and medical supplies as directed.
  • Under the direction of the RN/Provider, provides wound-related patient care according to basic life support (BLS), approved and hospital protocols, policies and procedures and scope of practice. 
  • Assist in the vein clinic within scope of practice after Healogics Vein Clinic training completed. 
  • May assist in the intake and discharge within scope of practice and according to hospital by laws. 
  • Gather patient information. 
  • Gather necessary equipment and supplies for the RN or provider.
  • Report quality of care issues to Clinical Nurse Manager. 
  • May perform hyperbaric oxygen therapy related duties, as needed, after completing the required Healogics hyperbaric training. 
  • Communicate as needed with all team members regarding therapeutic interventions to ensure quality care.
  • May function as a Documentation Assistant (scribe) in accordance with Healogics policy.
  • Perform other duties as required.

What we're looking for 
Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent. Additional requirements include:

  • Associate degree preferred.

  • Graduate from a Medical Assistant OR Nursing Assistant program approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Program (CAAHEP) or by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).

  • Current Medical certification - to maintain throughout the duration of employment in the position.

  • Six (6) or more months of related experience in an acute hospital, rehabilitation hospital, or skilled nursing unit preferred.

  • Two (2) or more years of office administration experience, preferably in a medical setting.

  • Prior medical coding experience preferred.
