About The Role
 
WaitWhat is looking for a versatile, strategic Video Editor to create best-in-class video content across our properties, reporting to the Director of Digital Marketing and Video. You'll edit across the full range of our video output: long-form podcast episodes, short-form social clips, sizzle reels, and live event visuals, collaborating closely with our content, marketing, production, live events, and design teams.

This role requires a deep appreciation for visual and audio storytelling, a self-starting mindset, and the ability to bring your own creative interpretation and ideas while remaining true to each property's editorial guidelines.
Responsibilities
  • Edit and finalize full-length podcast episodes, short-form social clips, sizzle reels, and on-brand visual content for TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and newsletters

  • Collaborate with content, marketing, and production teams to adapt podcast content into native video formats

  • Ensure high-quality video deliveries across all projects and platforms

  • Work with the live events team to create visually dynamic content for on-stage playback and associated digital formats

  • Explore new and innovative ways to tell stories across WaitWhat's social channels

  • Curate, source, and organize required assets for final video delivery, including music, SFX, design, and b-roll

  • Apply graphic elements to videos using brand guidelines defined by the WaitWhat design team

  • Add and QC captions across all video content

  • Provide post-production services including color correction, audio cleanup, light mixing, media management (transcoding, asset curation), and platform deliveries

  • Receive and prioritize inbound video editing requests, clarifying requirements, specs, and deadlines with each requester

  • Deliver projects on quick turnaround timelines while maintaining high technical quality

  • Perform quality control checks before publishing or delivering any video content

  • Maintain clear, consistent communication to support a collaborative and creative work environment

Requirements
  • 3-5 years of proven video editing experience for social and digital platforms

  • Strong proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro, with a working knowledge of video and audio encoding, standards, and formats

  • Experience with structured media file management using platforms like Iconik, LucidLink, Frame.io, Google Drive, or Dropbox

  • Experience with project management tools like ClickUp

  • Proficiency in animation and motion graphics using After Effects, Motion, or similar tools

  • Experience formatting and troubleshooting video assets for social media platforms

  • Experience in color correction for all video types

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Fast and eager learner with critical thinking, problem-solving, time management, and multitasking skills

  • Deep understanding of digital trends, with a point of view on what will engage and grow audiences

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in other areas of video production, including storyboarding, producing, and GFX

  • Basic audio and sound mixing knowledge

  • Familiarity with special effects, 3D, and compositing 

$85,000 - $100,000 a year
The final compensation for this position will depend on various factors, including the candidate's experience, skills, qualifications, and geographical location, as well as internal equity and market considerations. Please note that salary ranges are periodically reviewed and may be adjusted based on evolving business needs or changes in market conditions.
