Job description

At Expedia Group, we help travelers explore the world, one journey at a time. As a global travel company powered by passionate people, trusted partnerships, and leading technology, we connect travelers, partners, and advertisers through our consumer brands, B2B network, and travel advertising business.

Here, you'll do meaningful work that helps millions of people discover, book, and experience travel with more ease, confidence, and joy. Our five Behaviors-Traveler First, Think Big, Operate with Excellence, Ownership Mindset, and Succeed Together-help foster a supportive environment where people can grow their careers and have the flexibility, benefits, and support to do their best work. Join us and build for travelers everywhere.

In this role, you will:

  • Define and drive end-to-end technical program strategies and roadmaps across multiple teams and services, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and measurable business outcomes.

  • Lead large, complex, cross-functional initiatives from discovery through delivery, including requirements definition, dependency management, risk mitigation, and phased execution plans.

  • Partner closely with engineering, product, data, and operations leaders to design scalable system architectures, APIs, and data models that meet reliability, performance, and security expectations.

  • Establish and evolve program-level governance, metrics, and operating mechanisms, using data to monitor health, drive continuous improvement, and ensure high-quality delivery at scale.

  • Safely integrate and operate AI/MLenabled solutions that improve outcomes, including introducing familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products within your programs.

  • Influence technical and organizational strategy by identifying cross-domain opportunities, aligning stakeholders, and ensuring solutions are extensible and reusable across multiple domains.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in technical program management or related technical leadership roles, including ownership of multi-team or multi-service programs.

  • Proven track record leading complex, cross-functional software development initiatives involving system design, low-level design (LLD), API design, and data modeling.

  • Demonstrated ability to define program scope, drive execution across multiple engineering teams, manage technical dependencies, and deliver reliable, scalable services in production.

  • Strong technical aptitude, including the ability to understand distributed systems, data flows, and integration patterns, and to collaborate effectively with senior engineers and architects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a technical field and/or equivalent experience; 10-15 years in technical program management, including prior experience working closely with VP/SVP-level engineering leadership in a chief-of-staff or senior program management capacity, with a track record of designing and owning an organization's rhythm of business - business reviews, org health forums, and annual planning - at scale.

  • Experience engaging directly with senior and principal-level engineers on architecture and design decisions - reading technical proposals, participating in design reviews, and helping ensure the right decisions are reached, documented, and acted on in a timely way.

  • Proven ability to build and improve how a team operates - establishing review processes, running post-incident and correction-of-errors reviews, tracking corrective actions to closure, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

  • Experience using modern tools and technology to automate repetitive work - building workflows, lightweight tools, or process automations that reduce manual overhead - and a track record of staying current on what tools are available and proactively introducing relevant ones to the team.

  • Exceptional executive communication skills - able to translate complex technical and business situations into clear, concise narratives for senior leadership, focused on the decisions that need to be made and the actions that need to follow.

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $231,000.00 to $323,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $369,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
