Job description

This is a hybrid role, also requiring periodic travel, based at any of the below locations:

The Vice President of Strategic Pricing will lead the pricing department for ODP Business Solutions. This role is central to shaping and executing the overarching pricing strategy to support organizational goals, enhance market competitiveness, and drive profitability. The VP will collaborate at a senior level with Sales, Marketing, Procurement/Sourcing, and Finance to align pricing initiatives with the company's strategic vision and achieve target goals.

Responsibilities include developing a comprehensive pricing framework, ensuring governance, and optimizing profitability. This VP role is focused on high-level strategy and leadership, distinct from the operational responsibilities of direct reports.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Vision and Leadership:
    • Set the strategic direction for the pricing department, ensuring alignment with the overall organizational strategy and business objectives.
    • Lead the development and refinement of a comprehensive pricing vision that drives profitability and market competitiveness.
    • Champion innovation and strategic change within the department, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
  • Executive Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Engage with senior leadership across functions (Sales, Marketing, Finance, Procurement) to influence and integrate pricing strategies within broader business plans.
    • Serve as the key spokesperson for pricing strategy at executive meetings, providing insights and strategic recommendations to drive organizational success.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to support the effective deployment of pricing strategies and policies.
  • Market Analysis and Strategic Adjustments:
    • Continuously analyze market trends, competitive landscapes, and macroeconomic factors to identify opportunities and challenges impacting pricing strategies.
    • Provide strategic insights to adjust company-wide pricing models, ensuring alignment with changing market conditions and customer expectations.
    • Leverage market research findings to inform strategic planning and decision making.
  • Governance and Policy Oversight:
    • Establish robust governance structures to ensure consistent application of pricing policies across the organization.
    • Oversee the development and implementation of policies that support strategic objectives and ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
    • Evaluate and update pricing policies regularly to reflect changes in market dynamics and organizational goals.
  • Talent Development and Organizational Growth:
    • Mentor and develop senior leaders within the pricing team, ensuring alignment of their efforts with strategic objectives.
    • Collaborate with HR to design talent development programs that build leadership capabilities and expertise within the pricing department.
    • Foster a high-performance culture that empowers leaders to innovate and drive strategic initiatives.

Education and Experience:

  • Level of Formal Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Area of Study: Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics
  • Minimum Years of Experience: 10
  • Type of Experience: 
    • Financial modeling skills
    • Experience with PROS pricing system preferred
    • B2B Distribution experience preferred
    • Customer Service or Sales experience preferred
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Excellent leadership skills.
    • Superb problem-solving skills and analytical expertise; demonstrated ability to understand, interpret and synthesize key insights and recommendations.
    • Strong analytical skills, rigorous thought processes, and a faculty for developing complex financial models to assist in making business decisions.
    • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills. Able to convincingly present/communicate complex issues with clarity and credibility.
    • Well-developed influencing skills and ability to influence at C level.
    • Demonstrated ability to deliver results, with a strong sense of urgency and purpose.
  • Language Skills: Excellent communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills
