Job description

Job Summary

The Vice President of Project Management is responsible for allocating resources and developing strategies to ensure the timely completion of all assigned Dant Clayton projects while adhering to contractual obligations with customers regarding safety, schedule, scope, quality, and administrative responsibilities. This position provides leadership, management, and direction to all employees in the Project Management Department while ensuring a best-in-class customer experience (Cx). In addition, the Vice President of Project Management has full P&L responsibility for Dant Clayton custom stadia and railing projects, meeting or exceeding project selling margins that support the company's operating income goals. This is a key executive position reporting to the President & CEO and will be a member of the Dant Clayton Strategic Leadership Team (SLT).

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the oversight and execution of all assigned Dant Clayton custom stadia and railing projects.

• Provides leadership, management, and direction to project management resources.

• Manages the construction health and safety program in collaboration with the Dant Clayton safety task force team.

• Proactively manages risk in project delivery and collaborates with project management and cross-functional leaders to mitigate.

• Owns construction dispute resolution and legal process in collaboration with outside counsel representing Dant Clayton.

• Manages the contract review, negotiation, and execution process for Dant Clayton, including the successful resolution of customer contract disputes.

• Collaborates with Finance Team (AR) and Project Management resources to ensure positive cash flow for the business and resolving payment matters with customers timely.

• Responsible for ensuring that the desired financial margins are achieved on all assigned projects.

• Responsible for the vetting and building of a pipeline of qualified subcontractor base to support construction demand, including hosting an annual subcontractor summit

• Responsible for ensuring the proper labor is in place to meet and exceed project deadlines, quality assurance requirements, and overall customer demands.

• Responsible for ensuring that open and consistent communication is occurring internally and externally regarding project updates, milestones, and timelines.

• Creates and executes customer experience (Cx) strategies and tactics pertaining to project delivery and completion.

• Manages the team’s efforts in the customer contract negotiation process, adhering to established completion timelines.

• Responsible for ensuring that all Dant Clayton’s subcontractors on assigned projects have the skills and abilities to perform the work up to company standards.

• Establish and maintain departmental KPIs/metrics to measure performance • Timely assignment of Project Management resources, ensuring an efficient and quality hand-off process from Sales to Operations

• Involvement in the company budgeting and forecasting process, including the creation and management of the Project Management Team.

• Responsible for problem-solving and conflict resolution in customer-escalated matters on an as-needed basis for assigned projects and staff.

• Partners with human resources to create succession plans and employee development strategies.

• Partners with human resources to proactively address employee matters such as performance, behavioral, and organizational changes, etc.

• Must deliver annual performance evaluations to all assigned employees in accordance with company policies.

• Collaborates with other Dant Clayton departments as needed to ensure projects are completed on time and within scope.

• Explores and implements (in collaboration with IT) new and evolving technology in Project Management to ensure Dant Clayton is always continually improving.

• Travels to project sites when necessary to observe, analyze, and ensure all aspects are on track, safe, and up to quality standards.

• Serves as Dant Clayton’s ambassador pertaining to key customers, vendors, contractors, and suppliers.

• Other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management is required; advanced degrees are highly preferred, but not required. Will consider certain combinations of education and relevant experience.

• Relevant professional certifications in Project Management are highly preferred.

• Experience with Procore, connecting tech platforms, and AI tools is highly preferred.

• Must have a minimum of 15 years of project management experience in the construction and/or manufacturing industry.

• Must have the ability to create, analyze, and comprehend cost to complete, financial statements, budgeting, and forecasting.

• Must have a minimum of 7 years of experience in a management and leadership role with direct reports.

• Must have strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate others.

• Must have the ability to successfully handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.

• Must be able to thrive in a high-pressure environment and consistently meet or exceed deadlines.

• Must have the ability to take risks and lead change when in the best interest of the company and our customers.

• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Must have excellent overall technical skills with various software, hardware, programs, etc.

• Must have strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data, trends, and provide recommendations.

• Must have strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.

• Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

• Must be flexible with the ability to change directions quickly regarding project timelines, deliverables, labor, etc.

• Must be willing to travel as needed.

• Must exhibit the company’s values on a daily basis with staff while ensuring established customer service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
