Job description

Company
Satoshi Energy is at the forefront of energy innovation, championing the colocation of AI and bitcoin data centers with renewable energy assets. As the first mover in 2018, we have developed nearly 500 MW of data centers in ERCOT, with an additional 5 GWs of data center projects under development.
The Role
Our team brings deep expertise across electric power markets, project development, and software development, positioning us as trusted experts in this rapidly evolving market. We are seeking a VP of Projects to lead our Powered Land Development business and scale our project pipeline from concept through commercial operation - driving enterprise-level growth and defining the future of our development function.
This role is ideal for a seasoned senior leader with end-to-end data center development experience who combines strategic vision with operational excellence and thrives in high-growth startup environments. You'll have ownership of our development function-setting strategic direction, building high-performing teams, and ensuring ultimate accountability for portfolio performance. Depending on team size and project complexity, you'll balance hands-on execution with delegation and strategic oversight. You'll manage both internal teams and external stakeholders including data center operators, utilities, energy partners, investors, and capital markets participants. As a senior leader, you'll shape company strategy, drive operational excellence, represent the company with key stakeholders, and play a pivotal role in building the future of colocated energy infrastructure.
Your Day-to-Day
  • Team Leadership & Development: You will lead, mentor, and grow a team of project development managers and engineers across multiple concurrent projects. You will establish team processes, drive accountability, foster a culture of excellence, and develop talent as the organization scales.

  • End-to-End Project Execution: You will oversee data center development projects from site identification through commercial operation - ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery while maintaining quality standards. You will prioritize critical paths, remove blockers, and ensure seamless handoffs between development stages.

  • Strategic Customer & Stakeholder Management: You will cultivate and manage relationships with strategic data center customers on critical projects while coaching and supporting your development team in their customer engagements. You will be the decision maker and support the team navigating complex negotiations, developing transformational partnerships, and ensuring customer satisfaction while coordinating with utilities, landowners, consultants, and internal teams.

  • Business Development & Pipeline Growth: You will lead strategic business development including exploring new power markets, evaluating innovative business models within existing markets, and continuously assessing our current approach. You will drive deal origination by conducting enterprise-level feasibility assessments, translating technical constraints into commercial decisions, and working with our sales team to qualify prospects, structure deals, and convert pipeline into executed projects.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: You will collaborate with our CEO, COO, engineering, sales, and operations teams to align on strategy, resolve complex challenges, and drive company-wide initiatives. Your ability to bridge technical execution with business strategy will be essential as we scale our Powered Land Development business.

Requirements
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in data center or renewable development, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role managing teams and portfolios.
  • Proven track record of delivering data center projects from early-stage development through commercial operation.
  • VP or C-suite experience preferred with demonstrated track record building and leading high-performing organizations and scaling operations.
  • Deep understanding of data center design, construction, power requirements, and operational needs across various use cases (hyperscale, colocation, edge, HPC/AI).
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex stakeholder relationships including enterprise customers, utilities, engineering firms, and landowners.
  • Strong knowledge of power infrastructure, interconnection processes, utility coordination, and electrical systems for large load facilities.
  • Experience with land acquisition, permitting, environmental review, and securing project entitlements.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset who thrives in fast-paced, high-growth startup environments.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, building processes from scratch, and adapting quickly to changing priorities.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with colocated data center and renewable energy projects.
  • Background in energy markets, power procurement, or renewable energy development
  • Experience working at a high-growth startup or scaling a business unit from early stage.
  • Established network within the IPP and data center industries..
  • Previous experience in multiple geographic markets and regulatory environments, including ERCOT.
Company Culture
  • We are free thinkers, we believe in meritocracy, we challenge assumptions meticulously, and we don't get overly emotional if we're wrong.
  • We believe in providing freedom and responsibility to foster a growth culture based on trust, transparency, and teamwork.
  • We encourage each other to seek discipline and focus in all parts of life, so that we can always perform at our best on the job.
  • We are a distributed team on a mission to build decentralized global power markets.

Benefits

  • Medical, Dental and Vision.
  • Phone and Internet stipend.
