Job description

The Vice President Medical Affairs is a key leadership position focused on enhancing clinical quality, patient outcomes, and overall system growth. This role involves guiding initiatives to improve medical staff effectiveness, financial performance, and interdisciplinary communications. The successful candidate will drive service efficiency, utilization management, and performance improvement across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide management oversight and guidance in credentialing and privileging, physician peer review, and for the medical staff function for quality assurance (including the medical staff bylaws and the rules and regulations)
  • Respond to physician behavior issues that take place in the hospital and resolve through the medical staff bylaws
  • Maintain the Texas Medical Association providership for CME and provide leadership to the CME committee
  • Oversee the graduate medical education program for UTHSC
  • Provide leadership for the measurement and improvement of clinical care processes and outcomes
  • Provide oversight and leadership to the clinical care standardization plan
  • Implement the Critical Care Intensivist program and continue the improvement and enhancement of the Hospitalist Program
  • Provide senior most leadership of safe care design, the reduction of risk of harm to patients, as well as medical legal risk
