Job description

Job Title:B Shift VAS Supervisor
Reports to: Sr.Operations Manager
Location: Mooresville, Indiana

The Role

Supervises and coordinates the safety, activities, production, workforce, processes, and outcomes of the department. Meet or exceed company daily goal Value Added Service shipping volume for outbound. Set objections and ensure pallet area are fully staffed and associates are focused on building orders to set up for outbound. Responsible for the accuracy and punctuality of all shipments. Supervises and coordinates workers for maximum productivity without sacrificing quality.

Assists Ops Manger by identifying work procedures, prepare work schedules and expedite workflow. Plan layout of VAS staging areas, to consider/incorporate data related to turnover and availability or styles, colors, sizes, weight, shipment sizes and related factors. Identifies specific employees for special recognition or those who may require coaching, to improve their efficiency and effectiveness. Assures special labeling, or other non-routine shipping instructions are followed. Determines space requirements and position of shipment in trucks and lays out position of shipment as needed

Ensures that each employee attends the appropriate orientation, safety training & equipment certification classes. Under the direction of the Sr. Operations Manager, is responsible for conducting annual performance evaluations

Your Impact

You will provide leadership support to the shipping department and support the operations departments as needed. Delivering high efficiencies in the assigned KPI's to meet both the internal and external customers.

The primary functions of this role, include but are not limited to:

  • Oversees incoming shipping activities to ensure quality, accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
  • Examines work for exactness, neatness, & conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Studies bills of lading, customer orders (pick tickets), and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments & shipping methods required to meet shipping schedules.
  • Conducts weekly meetings as needed to address shipping goals, short term and long-range shipping plans, the departmental and individual work schedules, changes affecting shipping policies and procedures, equipment maintenance and safety issues.
  • Establish shift schedules during special, seasonal, and periodic peak periods and slowdowns.
  • Trains and advises employees on care and preservation of goods, specifically how to store, pick, pack, and ship; methods and use of equipment in handling storing, maintaining, and shipping stock.
  • Issues oral and written instructions.
  • Reports discrepancies (ordering, quantity or quality) to the management

  • 1 to 2 years' experience with facility maintenance in a medium to large distribution center or manufacturing operation.
  • 1 to 2 years' experience in a leadership role or similar role
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, WMS system experience, similar or same supply chain software being used currently at the site
  • Experience with automated and manual operations in a distribution center
