OverviewThe Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) / OB-GYN Sonographer performs advanced obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound examinations in a high-volume academic fetal imaging center, with a focus on high-risk pregnancies, prenatal diagnosis, fetal anomalies, fetal growth assessment, multiple gestations, Doppler studies, and fetal echocardiography. The sonographer works closely with Maternal-Fetal Medicine physicians and multidisciplinary specialists to provide high-quality diagnostic imaging and patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive first-, second-, and third-trimester ultrasound examinations, including detailed fetal anatomy surveys, fetal biometry, cervical length assessment, fetal surveillance, multiple gestations, biophysical profiles, and Doppler studies.
  • Obtain high-quality diagnostic images in accordance with departmental and professional guidelines.
  • Recognize fetal, placental, and maternal abnormalities and promptly communicate urgent findings to the supervising physician.
  • Assist physicians with ultrasound-guided prenatal diagnostic procedures, including amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling (CVS).
  • Ensure accurate documentation and timely transfer of images to PACS and reporting systems.
  • Participate in quality assurance, educational, and academic activities, including support of trainees when applicable.
  • Maintain ultrasound equipment and a professional clinical environment.

Requirements

  • ARDMS certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN)
  • Minimum of two years of Maternal-Fetal Medicine or high-risk obstetric ultrasound experience in an academic or tertiary referral center.
  • Demonstrated expertise in detailed fetal anatomy examinations, fetal growth assessment, multiple gestation imaging, and Doppler ultrasound.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred:
  • RDMS (FE) certification in Fetal Echocardiography.
  • Experience performing fetal echocardiography.
  • Experience in a tertiary referral fetal imaging center.
Additional Requirements:
  • OHS Fit Test.
  • OHS Annual Assessment.
  • Compliance with institutional credentialing and continuing education requirements.
