Job description

Project Manager – USPS Facilities | Repair & Alteration Programs

Support the infrastructure that keeps the United States Postal Service operating securely, efficiently, and without interruption. This role is embedded in USPS facilities programs, managing security system work orders and repair and alteration projects that directly impact postal operations nationwide.

As a Project Manager, you will lead end-to-end execution of security and minor construction initiatives across USPS facilities. You’ll collaborate with USPS engineering, facilities, and security stakeholders to ensure every project meets USPS performance standards, safety requirements, and regulatory obligations. You’ll also contribute to updates of USPS Building Design Standards, with a strong focus on security and compliance.

Work Location: Plano, TX • Carol Stream, IL • Denver, CO

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and execute USPS work orders related to security systems and minor repair and alteration projects.

  • Lead facilities security projects from initiation through closeout, ensuring adherence to schedules, quality benchmarks, and safety standards.

  • Coordinate with cross-functional USPS teams, contractors, and vendors to drive milestones and maintain operational continuity.

  • Review and provide input on USPS Building Design Standard updates, emphasizing security requirements and regulatory compliance.

  • Track, prioritize, and resolve projects using USPS ticketing systems with accuracy and urgency.

  • Maintain complete, audit-ready documentation within USPS systems.

  • Prepare and present clear, concise project status reports for USPS leadership.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Engineering (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural), or Construction Management.

  • Engineering degrees must be from ABET-accredited programs.

  • 3–7 years of experience in commercial facility maintenance or construction project management.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Ability to support telework with a computer and reliable Wi-Fi.

  • Ability to travel as required.

  • Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.

  • Must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting facility alterations or minor construction projects.

  • Prior experience supporting federal government or USPS facilities programs.

  • Working knowledge of building codes, accessibility standards, and construction safety practices.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.

  • Strong communication and relationship-management skills with contractors, vendors, and client stakeholders.
