JOB SUMMARY: The Upholster works closely with the Warehouse Manager to repair and refurbish damaged furniture and other fixtures. A key component of this role will include organizing and prioritizing information to develop each project in the most efficient and effective way possible. The ideal candidate must be organized, committed, hardworking and persistent, with 3-5 years of experience working with upholstery, repairing and fabricating furniture and various set pieces to be used in special events for our clients. We service casinos, conferences, tradeshows and other special events.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Make or repair upholstery from start to finish.
  • Fit, install, and secure material on frames, using hand tools, power tools, glue, cement, and/or staples.
  • Build furniture up with loose fiber stuffing, cotton, felt, and/or foam padding to form smooth rounded surfaces.
  • Make, restore, and/or create custom upholstered furniture, using hand tools and knowledge of sketches and design specifications.
  • Be able to upholster tight seat/back, tufting, and plain frames.
  • (Frame Assemblers) Be able to assemble sofa wood frames from start to finish. Be able to use hand tools, like nail gun, hammer, band saw, hand saw, etc. to get the job done.
  • (Frame Spring Operator): Be able to install springs to the assembled frame. Add springs to Seating area and also on the back of frame.
  • (Warehouse Shipping): Move furniture using hand cart to warehouse, help load trucks and help to remove fabric on damaged sofas, using had tools
  • (Packaging): Be able to lift/ move the upholstered sofas and put the final necessary accessories before bagging & shipping. Accessories can be Pillows/ Seat Cushions & legs. Make sure all threads are cut and Finish product is clean before bagging & shipping.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At Minimum Training, Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 3-5 years of upholstery experience required.
  • Proficient with sewing a wide variety of fabrics and other substrates.
  • Able to operate hand tools to repair furniture as needed.
  • Ability to work occasional overtime as needed
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high degree of accuracy with minimal supervision
  • Successful completion of an upholstery apprenticeship program is preferred.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to heavy. The temperature will vary from hot to cold depending on the weather.
