The Role
The Kitchen Manager is a key leader within Suser Restaurant Group, responsible for overseeing all back of house operations and ensuring the highest standards of food quality, consistency, and cleanliness across our kitchens. This role requires a hands-on leader who leads by example, develops their team, and takes ownership of the kitchen from prep through service. The ideal candidate is passionate about food, committed to excellence, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
Responsibilities

  • Oversee all daily back of house operations, ensuring smooth, efficient, and high-quality service throughout every shift
  • Lead, coach, train, and develop the kitchen team, creating an environment where hard work, growth, and achievement are recognized and rewarded
  • Maintain the highest standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation across all menu items
  • Ensure all health code requirements, food safety regulations, sanitation standards, and company policies are followed at all times
  • Manage food and labor costs, monitoring waste, controlling portions, and maximizing efficiency without compromising quality
  • Create and manage prep lists, line schedules, and station assignments to ensure the kitchen is fully prepared for every service
  • Oversee ordering, receiving, and inventory management, building strong relationships with vendors and ensuring the freshest ingredients are always on hand
  • Collaborate with ownership and management on menu development, seasonal specials, and new item rollouts
  • Monitor and maintain all kitchen equipment, reporting any issues promptly and ensuring proper preventative maintenance is performed
  • Manage kitchen staff scheduling to ensure adequate coverage while controlling labor costs
  • Conduct regular line checks before service to ensure all stations are properly stocked, organized, and ready
  • Enforce proper food rotation, labeling, and storage procedures at all times
  • Recruit, interview, and onboard new kitchen team members as needed
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and collaborative kitchen culture that reflects the values of Suser Restaurant Group
What We're Looking For

  • 2-3 years of kitchen management or chef experience in a full-service restaurant environment
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate a kitchen team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Strong knowledge of cooking methods, techniques, ingredients, and equipment
  • Solid understanding of food and labor cost management, inventory control, and ordering
  • Current knowledge of food safety regulations, health codes, and sanitation best practices
  • ServSafe certification preferred
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills
  • Ability to work with a high degree of independence and make sound decisions under pressure
  • Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Passion for food, hospitality, and developing the next generation of culinary talent
