Job Description:
Christman Constructors, Inc. (CCI) is looking for Carpenters in Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids Michigan!
This position requires union membership. We will support qualified candidates in becoming union members.
What You Will Do:
  • Works with varied materials including but not limited to wood, plastic, fiberglass or drywall.
  • Utilizes tools including but not limited to chisels, planes, saws, drills, and sanders to erect and repair structures.
  • Utilizes tools including but not limited to levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares and surveying equipment to ensure everything is level and secure.
  • Joins materials with nails, screws, staples or adhesives.
  • Safely operates a variety of saws and other carpentry tools.
  • Checks work along the way to ensure it meets all code and specification requirements.
  • Works on top of stilts, ladders and the top beams of buildings.
  • Performs the building of handrails, steps, drilling, and patching, light concrete work.
  • Builds stairs, temp doors, ramps, temp walls, etc.
  • Erects various types of scaffolding including pipe and safety barriers, and make provisions on scaffolding for moving and handling materials needed for the job.

Travel: Must have reliable transportation. Must be willing to travel 60 miles a day dependent on project location relative to where the employee lives.
Required Education and Experience
  • Minimum two years in construction carpentry experience.
  • Union membership required.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum two years in construction carpentry experience.
