Student Union Facilities and Event Services
Job Summary
The Student Assistant will support the Student Union Facilities and Event Services as an Operations Assistant on the Statesboro Campus beginning Fall 2026.
The Operations Assistant will be responsible for the setup and takedown of equipment utilized for programs and events held at the Russell Union, Williams Center, Nessmith-Lane Center, and all other associated facilities. The Operations Assistant may also be cross-trained in other service areas, including maintenance.
Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.
Responsibilities
  • Provides consistent and high level of customer service to all customers and guests
  • Reads/reviews daily operations report and implements the required setups for daily events in the Russell Union, Williams Center, Nessmith-Lane Center, and associated facilities
  • Setup and takedown equipment associated with events
  • Completes required event/program documentation
  • Maintains cleanliness and order of all equipment in all storage rooms
  • Assists with custodial as needed
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment
  • Attends staff meetings as needed

Shift Specifics
  • Up to 15 hours per week
  • Flexible with schedule of availability
  • Shifts available
    • Monday - Saturday, 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM
    • Sunday, 1:00 PM - 10: 00 PM
  • Work schedules will rotate among team members and may include evening, nights, weekend, and holiday shifts, as well as coverage during finals week, academic intersessions, and university break periods as needed.

Educational Requirements
  • Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.

Proposed Salary
$8.00 per hour
This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
