Job Responsibilities

·       Oversees the daily operations of the Medical Records Department

·       Provides ICD-9/10 and CPT codes for all diagnoses and procedures in the medical record.

·       Abstracting, analyzing, auditing, and coding of all medical records in a timely manner.

·       Oversees the release of medical record information, archiving/storage of medical records, and the transcription/dictation processing.

·       Collects and analyzes data for quality improvement.

·       Completes quarterly performance improvement reports in a timely manner.

·       Suggests changes to Medical Record policies and procedures.

·       Functions as a member on assigned committees.

·       Works closely with nursing, social work, and finance to ensure PPS compliance and unit profitability.

·       Looks to become highly involved in areas outside specific job function. 

Qualifications

·       Graduate of an accredited high school or GED preferred.

·       Knowledge of office procedures, medical terminology, typing, filing, transcription, and computers is required.
