Position Summary

Carlile is seeking a Director of Transportation Sales to lead strategic revenue growth initiatives across Alaska and regional markets. This executive-level role is responsible for developing and executing commercial strategies, leading high-performing sales teams, and delivering innovative customer solutions in a highly complex logistics environment.

This role requires deep expertise in Alaska shipping dynamics, density-based pricing, freight consolidation, and regional routing challenges, combined with strong leadership and business development experience.


Key ResponsibilitiesSafety & Operational Alignment
  • Champion a safety-first culture across all commercial activities
  • Align sales strategies with operational capacity, routing constraints, and regulatory requirements
Strategic Sales Leadership
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to drive revenue growth and market expansion
  • Lead pricing strategy including density-based pricing models and profitability optimization
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities across Alaska and the Pacific Northwest
Subject Matter Expertise (SME)
  • Serve as a recognized expert in:
    • Alaska shipping and seasonal freight dynamics
    • Freight consolidation and intermodal solutions
    • Regional routing challenges and logistical constraints
  • Provide strategic guidance on complex customer supply chain solutions
Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing sales organization
  • Establish KPIs, forecasting processes, and pipeline accountability
  • Promote a culture rooted in teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Build trusted relationships with key commercial, industrial, and government customers

QualificationsRequired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field
  • 10+ years of sales leadership experience in transportation, logistics, or maritime industries
  • Demonstrated expertise as a subject matter expert (SME)in:
    • Alaska shipping dynamics
    • Density-based pricing
    • Freight consolidation strategies
    • Regional routing challenges in Alaska
  • Proven success in driving revenue growth and leading high-performing sales teams
  • Strong financial acumen, including pricing strategy and margin management
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in multimodal transportation (marine, trucking, rail)
  • Background supporting Alaska or remote logistics operations
  • MBA or advanced degree
