The Recreation Specialist is responsible for assisting in the planning and implementation of our TR program which meets the physical, mental, psycho-social and spiritual needs of our residents.
Duties:
Major job functions of the Recreation Specialist includes; Planning and conducting activity programs under direct supervision; assisting with outings; recruiting and transporting residents to and from programs; conducting one to one therapeutic visits with residents; assisting in planning special events; responsible for a caseload of residents and records daily attendance; gives input for care/family conferences; assisting with decorations and publicity of therapeutic programs.
Second main focus of this position, you'll do pre-trip safety checks, take pride in keeping your vehicle in top shape, and report any maintenance needs. Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have a special interest in working with geriatric residents. In addition, the individual must assume responsibility for learning and following therapeutic recreational techniques and documentation procedures. Position requires the ability to generate enthusiasm during programs and be willing to participate in special events. Excellent communication skills are needed. The ability to follow oral and written directions is needed as well.
Qualifications:
  • Must be 24+ years old with a minimum of 1 year of driving experience.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (no revocations, suspensions, or cancellations in the last 5 years).
  • Ability to pass an MN DOT physical.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Experience working with elderly or disabled individuals preferred.

Job Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
  • Safely transport vulnerable adults and seniors, adhering to MN Department of Transportation and STS regulations.
  • Assist clients to and from the vehicle as needed.
  • Understand and follow schedules, special trip requests, and transport groups as assigned.
  • Adhere to all laws, company procedures, and safety precautions, including weather and road conditions.
  • Ensure proper restraint of wheelchair passengers and perform routine vehicle maintenance.
  • Building meaningful relationships with the community, assisting where needed.

WORK SCHEDULE
This Full-time position is mid-day hours 9am-5:30pm
