JOB SUMMARY
The Transfer Coordinator position involves coordinating the selection and evaluation of animals for potential transfer, establishing partnerships with other shelters and organizations, arranging travel logistics, and facilitating the transfer process. Responsibilities also include administering medical care, maintaining cleanliness of vehicles and inventory, continuing education, providing excellent customer service, handling financial transactions, completing paperwork, and assisting in other shelter areas as required.

โ€ข Assist in the selection and evaluation to decide possible transfer of animals based on medical and behavioral history from local, statewide, nationwide, and international partners
โ€ข Develop strong partnerships with current and new shelters and organizations for transfer opportunities and emergency response
โ€ข Coordinate travel arrangements for animal transfers
โ€ข Establish schedule for transfers to accommodate shelter population, offsite needs, cuddle breaks, and other events
โ€ข Process all transfer animals by collecting animal's vital signs, administering vaccines and medications, running basic blood testing, microchipping, inputting records, preparing animal quarters, and scheduling all veterinary appointments
โ€ข Maintain cleanliness of vehicles including cleaning and disinfecting carriers and vehicle after every transfer
โ€ข Maintain inventory of supplies needed for transfers
โ€ข Periodically complete continuing education to enhance animal handling and behavior skills
โ€ข Deliver excellent customer service with internal and external customers through in-person and phone interactions answering questions and giving recommendations of care
โ€ข Handle financial transactions of donations and purchases of merchandise or services and reconcile receipts
โ€ข Use proper animal restraint techniques for the safety and well-being of the animal and the team
โ€ข Complete all necessary paperwork and data entry, maintaining accurate animal records
โ€ข Assist with other shelter areas, as needed
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
โ€ข High school diploma or equivalent preferred
โ€ข Must possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license and must successfully complete a motor vehicle record check
โ€ข At least 2 years of professional animal care, handling, or medical experience preferred
โ€ข Advanced knowledge of animal handling, general pet care principles, and animal behavior
โ€ข Previous cash handling experience preferred
โ€ข Fear Free certification preferred

โ€ข Ability to work with animals safety and humanely and to remain calm in stressful situations

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS

โ€ข Visual acuity and depth perception is required for safe handling of animals
โ€ข Work includes driving large vehicles while safely and securely transporting live animals
โ€ข Work is frequently performed in the small, enclosed spaces such as animal cages

WORK ENVIRONMENT
โ€ข Most work is performed at offsite locations or in transportation vehicles.
โ€ข Work is also performed in the shelter areas of Pet Alliance which is open and well lit, adequately ventilated, noisy and distracting environment. In addition, the kennels are subject to extremely warm temperatures during the summer months.
โ€ข The job requires moving between rooms and buildings including traveling to outside locations, which may result in increased exposure to extremes in temperature and atmospheric conditions.
โ€ข Work environment involves exposure to potential hazards such as chemicals and sharps.
โ€ข The job requires frequent and routinely intense public contact as well as the ability to multi-task under conditions that can be described as extremely fast-paced/high volume and are potentially stressful on a routine basis.
Travel is required up to approximately 50% of the time.
Salary Description
$17.00/hr
