- Design, implement, and manage shop-specific safety programs covering machine guarding, lockout/tagout, confined space, fall protection, welding and fabrication safety, electrical safety, and heavy lift and material handling procedures.
- Assist in development and execution of annual safety plans for the shop network.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ANSI, and other regulatory and industry standards relevant to mechanical and fabricated product manufacturing.
- Conduct investigations into incidents and near-misses, including root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and update safety SOPs, hazard control protocols, and training content.

- Implement machine guarding for all manufacturing equipment
- Oversee safe operation of cranes, forklifts, hoists, and other heavy-lift equipment used in fabrication and product movement.
Incident Management & Reporting
- Lead investigations of near-misses, incidents, and recordable injuries; identify root causes and corrective actions.
- Maintain OSHA 300 logs, environmental permits, and internal safety records.
- Support return-to-work, light-duty, and restricted-duty processes, including coordination of work assignments and review of offer letters outlining restrictions, expectations, and duration
- Monitor safety performance metrics, identify trends, and propose solutions to address gaps and improve outcomes.
- Manage subject-specific safety initiatives and ensure successful implementation across shop operations.
- Report shop safety performance metrics to leadership and corporate EHS.
Training & Culture Building
- Deliver training on welding and fabrication safety, electrical awareness, hot work permits, PPE, and machinery safety.
- Coach supervisors and employees to take ownership of safety in daily work.
- Build a culture of "stop work authority" where employees proactively identify and address hazards.
Continuous Improvement & Integration
- Partner with shop leadership to embed safety into daily management systems, including SQDIP (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Productivity) boards, tier meetings, and operational reviews.
- Support the implementation, audit, and sustainment of 5S programs to improve shop organization, hazard visibility, material flow, and ergonomic safety.
- Integrate safety metrics and leading indicators into visual management tools to proactively identify trends and drive corrective actions before incidents occur.
- Maintain regular shop floor presence through walkthroughs, daily huddles, and standard work reviews to reinforce safe work practices and engage teams in continuous improvement.
- Lead or support lean and continuous improvement events focused on reducing risk, improving ergonomics, eliminating waste, and optimizing production flow.
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, and project teams to ensure safety is incorporated into production line layouts, tooling selection, and process design.
