Job description

The Director of Training owns Yingling's technical, regulatory, and workforce-development training programs across maintenance, avionics, and line/FBO operations. The role ensures that personnel are trained, qualified, and current to the standards required by the company's Repair Station and Quality Manual and applicable Federal Aviation Regulations. This is an individual-contributor position: the Director builds and administers the training system directly and is expected to grow it into a broader function as the organization scales.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Training program ownership. Develop, maintain, and administer the Repair Station Training Program required under 14 CFR 145.163, keeping it aligned with the Repair Station and Quality Manual and current FAA guidance.
  • Records & currency. Maintain accurate training and qualification records for technicians, inspectors, and other affected personnel; track certificate, rating, authorization, and currency status and flag upcoming expirations.
  • Curriculum & delivery. Design and deliver, or coordinate the delivery of, initial/indoctrination, recurrent, on-the-job (OJT), and human-factors training; document competency assessments and OJT sign-offs.
  • External training. Coordinate OEM/factory, avionics, and vendor training and manage the associated scheduling, travel, and cost tracking.
  • Systems & reporting. Administer the learning management system (or equivalent) and maintain the company training matrix so requirements, completions, and gaps are visible to leadership.
  • Safety & compliance training. Partner with the Director of Safety to deliver safety-culture and SMS-related training, and coordinate EHS/OSHA-required training (e.g., hazardous materials, lockout/tagout, fall protection).
  • Audit support. Support FAA and internal/customer audits by producing training documentation and closing training-related findings.
  • Budget input. Provide input to the annual training budget and identify cost-effective, compliant training solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Aviation maintenance background with working knowledge of 14 CFR Parts 43, 65, and 145.
  • Demonstrated experience developing or administering training programs in a Part 145 repair station, or a comparable regulated aviation environment.
  • Strong recordkeeping discipline and comfort with training-tracking systems and reporting.
  • Effective communicator able to instruct and coach technical staff across experience levels.

Preferred

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate; Inspection Authorization (IA) a plus.
  • Formal training in instructional design, adult learning, or human factors in aviation maintenance.
  • Familiarity with FBO/line-service and avionics training requirements.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work is performed in a combination of office, classroom, hangar, and ramp environments. The role requires periodic time in active maintenance areas with exposure to aircraft, ground equipment, noise, and typical shop conditions, and may involve occasional standing, walking, and lifting of training materials or equipment. Some travel may be required for OEM or vendor training.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary with performance-based incentives.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance and retirement plans.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development.
  • A dynamic, supportive team culture that values innovation and collaboration.

Equal Opportunities

Equal Opportunity Employer, including disability and protected veteran status.

Except where prohibited by state law, all offers of employment are conditioned upon successfully passing a drug test.
