Job description

Valiant Integrated Services is looking for an experienced, highly skilled Principal Training and Development Specialist / Battlemaster Controller (BMC) to join our professional team at Wheeler AAF, HI providing support to the Army Training Aids, Devices, Simulators and Simulations (TADSS) Maintenance Program (ATMP), to include the AH-64D Longbow Crew Trainer (LCT), UH-60M TBOS/BAT, UMS, CH-47F TFPS and AVCATT training devices. ATMP brings to bear the full capabilities of many of the world's best systems integration and engineering companies in the technical integration of live, virtual, and constructive (LVC) training support. ATMP operations support the installation and training mission to provide realistic joint and combined arms training focused on developing soldiers, leaders, and units of the United States military for success on the 21st Century Battlefield.

Essential job functions include but are not limited to:

  • Assists the customer by operating TADSS workstations and providing familiarization training, primarily in the Aviation Combined Arms Tactical Trainer (AVCATT).
  • Assist in planning and scheduling work requirements and conducts or assists in briefings and tour of site to all senior officers, training units and civilian personnel, including foreign dignitaries on official business.
  • Attends management meetings, customer meetings and other required contractual meetings
  • Assists Project Manager in implementing and administering safety program to create a safe working environment.
  • Ensures associates follow program, company, and government policies and procedures.
  • Designs and administers programs to train all levels of personnel
  • Operates Semi Automated Forces (SAF) system and related exercise control systems per current and Applicable military doctrine.
  • Generates and controls semi-automated exercise tactical entities to meet military instructors, observer controllers, and unit commanders training intent.
  • Programs BMC controller radio frequencies, weapons configurations, navigation waypoints, target coordinates, and weather environmental parameters.
  • Loads and verifies correct mission's initial conditions defaults prior to initialization of flight modules.
  • Remains informed of and maintain proficiency with applicable company products.
  • Work closely with the customers, both local and numerous remote sites on training device scheduling, mission planning, conducting training and after-action reviews.
  • Maintain and file monthly reports on utilization, types of training conducted, number of soldiers trained, availability, and any issue or concerns from the customer.
  • Remain current on the tactics used by their customers in the Lift, Cargo, Attack and Scout Aviation communities.
  • Conducts training courses, both on-site and on-line, for the company's applications and systems to include lectures and hands-on sessions.
  • Works with applicable business unit/area to establish specifications of course, prerequisite skills and knowledge for trainees. Ensures that training courses address all levels of employee. Assists in the design and development of technical training programs and curriculums, both on-site and on-line, for employees on various software and/or hardware applications and systems.
  • Researches and assists in writing technical and user manuals to support training. Works with engineering, technical support, and/or applicable area to ensure that material is accurate and reflects current product features.
  • Gathers, reviews and analyzes course evaluations to determine effectiveness of training sessions. Prepares recommendations and reports to senior level personnel and/or management. Implements approved revisions to course materials as necessary to improve training effectiveness.
  • Reviews, as requested, external training programs to determine feasibility of purchase as requested. Makes recommendations to management as appropriate.
  • Works with senior level personnel and business units/technical areas to conduct needs assessments to ensure training needs and all other requirements are met.
  • Conducts PMCS of equipment and assist technicians with repairs.
  • In addition to operating the system and resolving common error conditions, this worker diagnoses and acts on machine stoppage and error conditions not fully covered by existing procedures and guidelines (e.g., resetting switches and other controls or making mechanical adjustments to maintain or restore equipment operations).
  • In response to computer output instructions or error conditions, the SAF Operator may deviate from standard procedures if standard procedures do not provide a solution and refers problems which do not respond to corrective procedures to a person of supervisory or higher individual contributor level.
  • Assists with installation, set-up and tear-down of AVCATT training devices in other locations.
  • May be required to support other devices and will be cross-trained, as needed.
  • Document all maintenance actions by inputting data in MIS.
  • Assist in maintaining Government and contractor property, tools and test equipment.
  • Perform inspections and accountability of property.
  • Assists logistics in accordance with contract requirements and work processes.
  • Prepare reports as required.
  • Participates in special projects as required.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, Aviation Management, Safety, Training or equivalent desired, or equivalent experience in Army Aviation, Armed Reconnaissance, Attack, Cargo, Cavalry or Utility operations as an Aviator, Instructor Pilot, Tactical Operations Officer, Aviation Unit Commander, or Operations Officer.
  • Four or more years of technical training experience
  • Experience working with company software, systems, applications, and network products
  • Experience working with communications practices, principles, and procedures for both on-site and on-line presentations
  • Experience in an advanced U. S. Army rotorcraft, such as the M/UH-60L/M, OH-58D, M/AH-6, M/CH-47D/F, LUH-72 and AH-64D/E.
  • Basic understanding of U. S. Army simulation requirements to include gunnery and aircraft survivability equipment scenarios.
  • Experience with the Aviation Mission Planning System (AMPS) or Portable Flight Planning Software (PFPS) FalconView.
  • Retired Army Aviator or six years recent experience as an Army Aviator.
  • Specialized experience to include familiarity with functional understanding of hardware and software of the Army Aviation Combined Arms Tactical Trainer (AVCATT) and simulation networking.
  • An understanding of U. S. Army and opposing force tactical doctrine and demonstrate experience in the simulation of at least one of the Battlefield Operating Systems under Combat, Combat Support or Combat Service Support.
  • Experience in integrating new aircraft, aircraft weapons systems and equipment training as instructor pilot, unit trainer, evaluator, and/or observer controller at aviation company/air cavalry troop level desired.

Other Qualifications

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain an active/valid US Secret security clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain a valid driver's license and Post driving privileges.
  • Must have strong verbal, written, interpersonal and customer service skills.
