Job description

Role Summary

Our client, a well-established senior living organization, is seeking an RN Clinical Training & Development Manager to lead clinical education, competency development, and quality improvement initiatives across multiple senior living communities in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

Reporting to the Director of Clinical Operations, this role focuses on developing and implementing clinical education programs, strengthening staff competencies, and supporting improved resident care outcomes through structured training and data-driven performance improvement. The role requires collaboration with nursing leadership and interdisciplinary teams to ensure regulatory compliance, clinical excellence, and effective staff development.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement clinical education programs, including new hire orientation, annual competency training, and leadership development initiatives.

  • Assess clinical staff competencies and identify ongoing training and professional development needs.

  • Deliver in-person training, clinical education sessions, and competency validation for nursing staff.

  • Monitor clinical performance metrics and quality improvement data (e.g., QAPI) to inform training initiatives and operational improvements.

  • Support implementation of evidence-based practices and care coordination across multiple communities.

  • Develop and maintain CNA training and preceptor programs to support onboarding, staff retention, and professional growth.

  • Design and oversee clinical onboarding programs for newly hired nursing staff.

  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and constructive performance feedback to nursing personnel.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and regulatory standards related to clinical training and competency validation.

  • Partner with nursing education programs to support clinical placements and recruitment pipelines.


Required Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia, or ability to obtain licensure in all three jurisdictions within 30 days of hire.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a clinical educator, trainer, or in a clinical oversight role within long-term care or senior living environments.

  • BLS/CPR certification required.

  • Willingness to obtain CPR/First Aid instructor certification.

  • Strong communication, coaching, and competency assessment skills.

  • Demonstrated experience evaluating and developing clinical competencies for RNs, LPNs, CNAs, GNAs, and other clinical staff.

  • Experience using electronic medical record systems (PCC preferred) and learning management or training platforms such as Relias.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

  • Extensive leadership experience in skilled nursing or senior living environments may be considered in lieu of formal education.

  • Experience leading regional or multi-site clinical education initiatives.
