Who we're looking for

Toyota's Battery Manufacturing Production Engineering Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivatedManager.

The primary responsibility of this role is to plan, manage, and develop the Battery Manufacturing Engineering (BME) Department to complete Production Preparation activities, meeting business targets as well as strengthening BME PE through Hoshin and cross-functional activities.

The person in this role will support the execution of Capital Projects from planning through Start of Production (SOP).

What you'll be doing

  • Planning and implementation of TBMNC BEV battery lines to meet project KPIs. Activities include schedule management, process planning, equipment planning, installation and trials through startup and handover to the plant's manufacturing function.

  • Plan, manage and oversee capital budget spending for your respective area ($50M-$150M)

  • Collaborate with Environmental & Facilities (E&F), Logistics (ILE) and other groups for confirmation of building design, facilities and permitting supports our equipment planning.

  • Collaboration with Toyota Japan and other affiliates for TBMNC battery projects

  • Support the TBMNC to pursue continuous improvement and cost competitive activities throughout the startup phase.

  • Engage and resolve technical and organizational issues including external vendors, suppliers, customers, all while achieving project KPIs.

  • Lead training and development activities for direct reports, monitor progress and provide ideas for improvement.

  • Lead training opportunities in Japan for the development of the BEV Battery team, including the support of HEV Battery implementation team at VTOs, as well as other Japan location training opportunities.

What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering

  • Experience in Toyota Production Preparation or Toyota Manufacturing, including execution of capital projects, from initial planning to start of production

  • Experience managing large Toyota capital projects over $20M, including creating and maintaining schedules and tracking milestones from project creation to completion

  • Experience in a Toyota management role with responsibility for direct reports or as a Toyota sub-lead for team members, engineers, technicians, machine builders and/or oversea support personnel

  • Ability to support weekends, shutdown and overtime, including travel, both domestic and international, up to 25%

  • Experience leading pre-production and manufacturing preparation in a greenfield lithium-ion battery production facility or battery technology pilot project
